Woodstock Chef's Choice Lunch

What kind of lunch do you usually eat? Or what would you like to try?

For the author, lunch at a restaurant is like a special meal, a time that is a bit luxurious.

Because it's lunchtime, I want to eat various things, and it would be nice to have options to choose from.

Located in Yoshida, Kasaoka City, Cafe Rest WOODSTOCK is a place that responds to the desire to eat and choose various dishes!

“As we listened to our customers' requests, the menu kept growing,”

the “Recommended Lunch” where you can choose your side dishes is sure to satisfy anyone's preferences.

The slightly retro Fruit Parfait is also a hidden gem. It's delicious and nostalgic, making it a must-try for parfait lovers.

A relaxing time for working people to take a breather, or a fun and relaxing time with friends.

The catchphrase is “Kasaoka's Log House,” introducing Cafe Rest WOODSTOCK.

The information provided is as of the article's publication in September 2020. Please note that it may differ from current information.

A cute log house is the landmark! Cafe Rest WOODSTOCK

WOODSTOCK exterior

The cute log house shop “Cafe Rest WOODSTOCK” appears in a beautiful rural landscape.

It is located along the Kasaoka Bisei Line that connects the city center of Kasaoka City to Bisei Town, Ibara City, and is a restaurant loved by locals and tourists alike.

WOODSTOCK exterior

Next to the log house, there is a magnificent smoke tree (Cotinus coggygria) planted.

The smoke tree with fluffy, smoke-like flower clusters is very beautiful.

WOODSTOCK parking lot

A spacious parking lot that can accommodate about 20 cars. It seems to be popular as a rest area where motorcycle tourists can park without hesitation.

WOODSTOCK sign

A large sign is a landmark.

A comfortable interior made of authentic log house with the scent of wood

WOODSTOCK interior

The exterior is of course, but the inside of the shop is also made of authentic log house.

As soon as you enter the shop, it is filled with the scent of wood that makes you want to take a deep breath.

WOODSTOCK interior

The first floor is barrier-free, allowing wheelchair users to enter the shop easily.

WOODSTOCK interior

The interior is filled with gentle light. You can't help but admire living in such a house.

The building of WOODSTOCK is a log house built by Murota Construction Co., Ltd.. It is also recommended for a casual log house experience.

WOODSTOCK also has a second-floor seating area. This staircase is very lovely!

The second-floor seating is divided into two rooms. It can be used with a bit of a private room feel.

This area has seating for up to 16 people and is said to be useful for meetings such as women's associations and PTA gatherings.

WOODSTOCK second floor view

From the second-floor window, a beautiful rural landscape of Yoshida, Kasaoka City spreads out.

“I didn't know such a view existed. This is my first time seeing it,” said the manager, Hatayama. I felt that he must have been quite busy.

Now, let's take a look at the menu at WOODSTOCK.

From morning to lunch, cafe, and dinner (only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays), a wide range of menus are available.

The lunch menu includes the “Recommended Lunch” where you can choose your side dishes, as well as braised pork rice bowl, steak rice bowl, and beef tendon curry.

There are also hearty menu options, and it seems that many male customers visit.

The daily changing menu of the recommended lunch. It's surprising that such a variety of side dishes change every day.

In summer, there are cold pasta dishes, and in winter, gratin and fried oysters, with menus that change according to the season.

Here is the drink menu. I'm drawn to the slightly retro drinks like lemon squash, mixed juice, and cream soda.

The highlight of lunch, the recommended lunch with diced steak

Woodstock Recommended Lunch

I chose the slightly luxurious “Recommended Lunch with Diced Steak” because I was very hungry. It comes with a drink for 1,400 yen (tax included).

Woodstock Recommended Lunch

From the left: diced steak, spinach quiche, and the shop's pride, teriyaki hamburger.

Choosing side dishes is fun and nice. I was quite troubled because I wanted to try other dishes as well.

Woodstock Recommended Lunch

Look at the doneness of the diced steak. What a beautiful sear! To be able to enjoy this at lunch is the ultimate luxury.

As you chew, the flavor of the meat spreads, perfectly seasoned with garlic, salt, and pepper.

Woodstock Recommended Lunch

The quiche has a gentle flavor of eggs and spinach, and its fluffy texture is soothing to the heart.

The sweetness of the onions and the saltiness of the bacon provide a good accent.

Woodstock Recommended Lunch

Fluffy and tender, the exquisite hamburg steak at WOODSTOCK! It may look small, but it has a satisfying volume.

The teriyaki sauce pairs perfectly with white rice, making it easy to keep eating.

Woodstock Recommended Lunch

Shiny white rice. The large serving is a free service (the photo shows a regular serving).

Woodstock Recommended Lunch

Chinese soup with egg and green onions. This soup is very delicious and has a comforting taste.

Potato salad with corn. Plenty of vegetables, making for a great nutritional balance.

This is the classic, the coveted fruit parfait

Woodstock Fruit Parfait

Since we are here, we also got a dessert… here comes the "Fruit Parfait" for 780 yen (tax included), chosen by Ms. Sasayama.

Wow, it's bigger than it looks in the menu photo! This is an incredible deal for 780 yen. A must-see for parfait lovers.

Woodstock Fruit Parfait

What an adorable parfait! The presentation is just too cute!

Filled with lots of fruits, coffee jelly, vanilla and berry ice cream, yogurt, and fruit cocktail, it's a feast.

Woodstock Fruit Parfait

The fruits include watermelon, cherries, blueberries, kiwi, apple, melon, grapefruit, and orange, all in abundance.

The yogurt in the middle refreshes your mouth, allowing you to enjoy it deliciously until the end.

I feel like I have finally found a fruit parfait that embodies both the classic style and the longing I had since childhood.

The manager of Cafe Restaurant WOODSTOCK, Miwa Hatayama, said, "It has been my dream to own a shop since I was a child."

I interviewed her about the journey since opening and about the shop.
