In April 2019, "ICHI" opened near the Bikan Historical Area.
The shop is located behind Aibunsha Bookstore, which was established in the early Meiji period.
During the day, you can enjoy hamburgers, and at night, charcoal-grilled dishes in a hidden gem of a restaurant.
The hamburgers made by the owner, Mr. Omori, who is from a French culinary background, are very filling!
Once you try it, you might become addicted to its deliciousness, and it could become a new specialty of the Bikan Historical Area.
In 2019, while managing the shop, Mr. Omori continued his volunteer work and support for his hometown, Mabi.
He shared his thoughts on Mabi, which experienced the heavy rains in July 2018, as well as his commitment to the shop.
The shop "ICHI" you encounter by passing through the narrow path behind Aibunsha Bookstore.

The hamburger and charcoal-grilled restaurant "ICHI" is located behind Aibunsha Bookstore, which was also renovated in April 2019.

The noren (traditional shop curtain) with "ICHI" written on it is your landmark.

You will pass through the narrow path next to Aibunsha Bookstore.
It’s a bit exciting.

The building of the shop is coming into view.
It is a beautifully modern building remodeled from a warehouse built about 200 years ago.

There is also a courtyard next to the narrow path.

This is the cute shop logo.
It seems that the letters "ICHI" are hidden inside the mark.
Can you find where they are?
The interior remodeled from a warehouse built about 200 years ago. The first floor is for charcoal grilling, and the second floor is for hamburgers.

The first floor is mainly used for dinner and charcoal grilling.
There is a large counter and a spacious kitchen, creating a cozy live kitchen atmosphere.

The buns have just been baked.
The subtly sweet-smelling buns are handmade by the chef using fermented butter and red egg yolks.

If you want to eat a hamburger for lunch, you will move to the second floor of the shop.
It’s a bright and lovely space.

The counter seats on the second floor have large windows, allowing a pleasant breeze to flow through.

The view from the window.
It has a sense of everyday life, yet somehow it feels like Kurashiki, a scenery that soothes the heart.

The counter is equipped with USB charging ports.

The ceiling retains old beams, reminding us that this was once a warehouse.
The lamps are stylish as well.

There is also a washbasin available.
It's safe for those with children.

The interior has a warm, wood-grain design that is soothing.
It is recommended as a hidden spot where you can quietly spend time away from the hustle and bustle of the Bikan Historical Area.
The ICHI burger with homemade buns and ragout sauce is too delicious!

I ordered the "ICHI Burger Set" for lunch.
The lovely staff will bring it up to the second floor for you.
The ICHI Burger Set is from the time of the 2019 interview. As of January 2023, you can order the hamburger alone with a potato set or salad set.
This is a luxurious hamburger with a patty, cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion, pickles, and special sauce sandwiched in between.

The melting cheese and overflowing special ragout sauce (meat sauce) are irresistible.
Taking a big bite, I was amazed by the deliciousness of the meat, the crunchiness of the vegetables, and the taste of the buns that hold it all together.
This is definitely a hamburger that I want many people to try.
It’s too delicious!

The homemade buns feature the ICHI logo.
Despite being so packed with ingredients, the buns do not lose their presence at all.

On the side, there are crispy, crunchy fries.

And there are delightful onion rings included. The author is happy when there are onion rings.

The drink's mug is quite cute.
Each piece of cutlery is stylish and perfectly matches the atmosphere of the shop.

The lunch menu also includes cheeseburgers and classic burgers.
Next, I spoke with the owner, Ohmori Ichiro.
