ICHI owner Ohmori Ichiro is from Mabi, Kurashiki City.
He is still working hard for the local community affected by the July 2018 heavy rain disaster, including serving as a committee member for the Kibi-sama Reconstruction Fireworks Festival held on August 17, 2019.
We interviewed Ohmori about his past activities, future plans, and his thoughts on his hometown Mabi.

I heard that you collaborated with nearby shopping streets for the Kibi-sama Reconstruction Fireworks Festival held in August 2019.
Ohmori
Yes, I believe it was made possible with the cooperation and donations from many people, starting with the shopping street.
I am especially grateful to the fireworks artisans. They donated over 80% of the costs, which made it happen.
For the next five years, I want to continue supporting the fireworks festival and fundraising activities at the store.
Isn't it difficult to carry out activities while running the store?
Ohmori
I just do what I can within my capacity.
Even now, I go out for volunteer work about once a month.
There is a LINE group among my classmates from Mabi, and every week there is a call saying, “Let’s meet at (Mabi) ○○ at ○ o'clock,” so I try to participate when I can.
When I go to volunteer for cleaning the irrigation channels, I find a lot of glass pieces coming out of the mud.
It has been a year since the July 2018 heavy rain, but I still feel that the scars are deep.
It seems that as a year has passed since the July 2018 heavy rain, the media coverage is gradually decreasing.
I want many people to know that volunteers are still needed.
Ohmori
I think there are many people who somehow think, “I wish I could do volunteer work.”
I want to think about how to make it easier for those people to participate and lower the barriers.
I have my store, and even if I can't do anything big, I hope to continue doing what I can little by little.
At the store, I use vegetables from relatives in Yakage Town and Mabi, so I hope people will come and eat.
