In "Gather Around! Elementary School Students," we conduct direct interviews with sixth graders at the visited elementary schools, delving deeply into the charm of the schools everyone attends. Additionally, the segment "Neighborhood Pride," where children share the good and favorite aspects of their community from their perspective, is also a highlight.

We will also present heartwarming interviews that make even adults' hearts swell, as children talk about their exciting future dreams and express gratitude to their families who are always by their side.

This time, we visited Daiyon Fukuda Elementary School located in Kitahune, Kurashiki City.

About Daiyon Fukuda Elementary School

The first to introduce the school is Hayato Watanabe. He energetically presented the charm of Daiyon Fukuda Elementary School.

The school's greatest charm is the abundance of smiles and the close friendships among all students from first to sixth grade. He mentioned that the sixth graders, who are reliable pillars of support, are kind and supportive of the younger students as they go about their school life.

Additionally, there are numerous events such as the sports presentation and the water festival, providing ample opportunities for warm exchanges with family and community members. Furthermore, the school is home to four beloved mascot characters, which have become a source of pride for everyone.

Three children presented the charms of Daiyon Fukuda Elementary School and its neighborhood.

1. Spreading Smiles! Energetic Greetings from the Whole Community

Mayu Komatsubara first introduced the community's pride, which is the culture of greetings that connect hearts.

During their commutes, community members kindly greet the children with "Good morning," "Have a good day," and "Welcome back." Komatsubara also actively greets others with "Good morning," and she feels very happy when community members respond with smiles. She explains that exchanging greetings with smiles boosts energy, provides reassurance, and motivates her to do her best for the day.

Finally, Komatsubara expressed, "I want to continue greeting others proactively and cherish a community filled with smiles." Greetings are important words that connect people. I hope this proud culture of the community continues in the future.

2. Four Mascot Characters Watching Over the Children with Heartfelt Sentiments

Next, Amato Nakami shared the school's pride, which is the four mascot characters. These unique characters, inspired by the "four" in the school's name, are beloved by the children.

Nakami particularly likes "Tsunegen-kun," who is responsible for energetic greetings. Each of the four characters has an important meaning and role, and every child has their favorite character, which is a unique charm of Daiyon Fukuda Elementary School.

With these adorable characters watching over them, the children enjoy a lively and cheerful school life.

3. The Alma Mater of Senichi Hoshino, Who Supported the Baseball World

The last to present was Yuito Toyosaki. He proudly mentioned that the school is the alma mater of former professional baseball player Senichi Hoshino.

Learning in the same building as a great senior who supported Japan's baseball world is a significant pride for the children.

Toyosaki, who expressed, "I want to become a professional baseball player in the future," hopes to one day thrive in the baseball world like Senichi Hoshino and further uplift the community.

Daiyon Fukuda Elementary School values exchanges across grades and warm connections with community members. Together with the four mascot characters, let’s continue to support a lively and enjoyable school life.

Voices of Children Looking Toward the Future

After learning about the school's charms, we also asked everyone about their future dreams.

Ten children participated in the interview this time.
Some expressed aspirations to become first-class architects, professional gamers, nail artists, and scientists, while others shared their positive feelings about wanting to explore new paths that don’t currently exist. Imagining everyone's future dreams is exciting.

The sight of children challenging themselves with "what they love" as their driving force gave adults great courage and inspiration.
