The restaurant suffered flooding damage during the heavy rain in July 2018 and was closed for five months.
On December 1 of the same year, the restaurant reopened after renovating the same location in Mabi.
I spoke with the Iwata couple about the delicious appeal of their hamburgers and their feelings leading up to the reopening.
About "Western-style Restaurant pas a pas" before the heavy rain in July 2018
Mr. Iwata, originally from Mabi, opened his own restaurant in Okayama City at the age of 24 and operated a Western-style restaurant for nearly ten years.
He then returned to his hometown of Mabi and opened "Western-style Restaurant pas a pas" on December 16, 2009.
With its modern decor, it was a popular restaurant for families with children and elderly people.
About "Hamburger Restaurant pas a pas" after reopening
Before the heavy rain in July 2018, there were no windows on the entrance side, but after reopening, more windows were added, creating a bright atmosphere with light streaming in.
The interior has changed to a clean and fresh impression with white walls and dark brown tables and chairs.
There are a total of 14 seats. It is completely non-smoking.
All seats are table seats, with two tables for four people and three tables for two people.
There are also high chairs available, so parents with children can feel at ease.
Four types of hamburgers to choose from
As the name "Hamburger Restaurant pas a pas" suggests, the menu consists only of hamburger lunch sets.
In March 2019, there were four types of hamburger menus available.
Each set comes with rice, salad, soup, and coffee or tea (straight) for a total of 1,400 yen (tax included).

- Cheese Baked Hamburger
An extra large serving of rice is an additional 100 yen (tax included).
If you want something light, try the Japanese-style grated hamburger. On cold days, the hot simmered hamburger is perfect.

The salad is lightly dressed with homemade dressing, providing a crunchy and fresh texture.
The hot consomme soup is refreshing and has a gentle flavor that pairs perfectly before the hamburger.
The ingredients are sourced from Okayama, including local produce from Mabi.
