Hidamari Pan Kobo ~ A Small Town Bakery That Wants to Deliver Safe and Secure Additive-Free Bread and Also Hosts Music Events

Hidamari Pan Kobo owner Harada-san

I am a writer who is always busy exploring delicious bakeries.

Just imagining the aroma of freshly baked bread and the fluffy, hot bread makes me feel happy.

Actually, Okayama Prefecture has ranked third in the nation for bread consumption in the past (according to a 2017 survey).
It is one of Japan's leading battlegrounds for bakeries, following Kyoto and Hyogo.

Located in Kasaoka City, Okayama Prefecture, Hidamari Pan Kobo is a bakery that opened in February 2019.

Inside the shop, there are plenty of freshly baked bread made with domestic wheat and no additives.

The motto is to create bread that everyone, from small children to the elderly, can safely enjoy every day.

Let me introduce this cute bakery that also holds events with my music friends.

The information provided is based on data from November 2020. Please note that it may differ from current information.

It is located at the back of the shopping center, which has coffee shops, snacks, izakayas, and teppanyaki.

At first glance, you might think, "Is there really a bakery here?" but customers come and go, aiming for the freshly baked bread.

You can also see customers enjoying bread at the terrace seats in front of the shop during their break.

Hidamari Pan Kobo Sign

The colorful shop sign was drawn by a friend who is an illustrator. It stands out with its vibrant colors.

The small interior can get crowded with just two or three people. Freshly baked bread is lined up everywhere.

A pleasant aroma of baking bread wafts from the kitchen in the back.

Recommended bread when in doubt: curry bread and cream bread

Hidamari Pan Kobo Bread

I asked the owner of Hidamari Pan Kobo, Mr. Harada, for his recommended bread.

Everything looks delicious, so please use this as a reference when you're unsure.

▼ Just out of the oven, the "Salt Butter Roll" for 140 yen (excluding tax).

First, notice the size!

It is much larger than the palm of your hand, giving a sense of volume.

The fluffy bread dough has a rich buttery flavor that spreads, along with a hint of salt... You can really taste the deliciousness of the dough.

This is a simple bread that you want to eat every day, with a strong wheat flavor.

▼ This is the "Baked Curry Bread" filled with spicy keema curry for 180 yen (excluding tax).

The curry bread at Hidamari Pan Kobo is a delicious adult curry bread with a nice kick.

The keema curry inside is spicy and is exactly to my taste. I want to eat it again!

By the way, there are two types of curry bread: "spicy" and "sweet for children."

▼ Here are two popular types of croissants.

Hidamari Pan Kobo Croissant

The "Croissant" with fermented butter for 160 yen (excluding tax) and the "Croissant Chocolat" made with French chocolate for 180 yen (excluding tax).

Hidamari Pan Kobo Chocolate Croissant

The combination of bitter chocolate and the fragrant croissant is the best.

The croissant is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The rich chocolate flavor is wonderful without being overly sweet.

▼ This is the number one popular item, the "Cream Bread" for 150 yen (excluding tax).

Hidamari Pan Kobo Cream Bread

The aroma of freshly baked bread and the fluffy, soft bread make me feel happy just looking at it.

Inside the bread is plenty of homemade custard cream. I really love this custard!

The sweetness is just right, and the gentle aroma of eggs and milk is delicious. I wanted to take a big bite!

Mr. Harada Taizo, the owner who continues to bake bread every day at this small bakery in Kasaoka.

I had a chat with him about the shop and his hobby of music.
