The accommodation "Denim Lodge & Nest" located in a corner of Kojima's Kojima Jeans Street in Kurashiki City.
Originally opened in 2023 as a rest area called "Denim Lodge," it is frequented by many visitors to Kojima Jeans Street.
And from March 2025, it will also be available for overnight stays.
We interviewed about the thoughts behind the opening and the features of Denim Lodge & Nest.
What is Denim Lodge & Nest
Denim Lodge & Nest is the only rest area and accommodation facility on Kojima Jeans Street.
Opened in September 2023, "Denim Lodge" is located on Kojima Jeans Street and was named with the hope that it would be a place where people can relax like a mountain lodge.
Then, in March 2025, "Nest" opened in the vacant space of Denim Lodge. "Nest" means "bird's nest," and it embodies the desire for this place to be used as a base, making people want to return.
The sign of Denim Lodge & Nest also carries a meaning related to the name "Nest."
It was created with the image of a kingfisher, the city bird of Kurashiki City, perched on a bird's nest.
Shared space that can also be used as a rest area
When you change into slippers at the entrance, the first thing you see is the shared space.
This space can be used not only for accommodation but also as a rest area for 300 yen for 30 minutes.
Some people wait for their hems to be altered for items purchased on Kojima Jeans Street or consult about which items to buy.
Drinks such as tea and coffee are also provided.
Two shared spaces on the second floor
There are two shared spaces on the second floor.
The first space is immediately to the left upon entering.
This space is used by those working remotely or those who cannot sleep. Coffee is provided, allowing guests to relax while enjoying a drink.
From the window, you can overlook Kojima Jeans Street, and the view from this angle, which cannot be seen while walking, is refreshing.
The other shared space is Uo no Ma (Room of Fish).
On the second floor, there are rooms named "Uo no Ma," "Wata no Ma," and "Shio no Ma," which are derived from Kojima's "Sanpaku" (fish, cotton, and salt).
The carpet laid in Uo no Ma is actually from Morocco.
If you ask about the interior and items that catch your eye, you might hear some surprising stories.
Three rooms themed around denim
There are three rooms available for overnight stays in the Nest.
All are private rooms, allowing guests to spend their time leisurely.
Kaze no Ma (Room of Wind)
The room on the first floor is "Kaze no Ma (Room of Wind)."
It is the closest to the shower and kitchen among the three rooms, making it popular among those who prioritize convenience.
Kaze no Ma can accommodate guests from 0 years old, making it recommended for families. It can accommodate up to 3 people.
The denim attached to the "Kaze no Ma key" was originally made during a tassel-making workshop held at Denim Lodge.
The keys to the other rooms also have tassels with different designs, making you want to check out the other rooms as well.
Shio no Ma (Room of Salt)
On the second floor, there are two rooms for overnight stays.
The room at the front after going up the stairs is "Shio no Ma (Room of Salt)." It can accommodate up to 2 people.
The blue color of the fusuma (sliding door) inspired by denim is striking.
Wata no Ma (Room of Cotton)
The room located at the very back of the second floor is "Wata no Ma (Room of Cotton)." It can accommodate up to 3 people.

Many guests feel as if they are blending into the town of Kojima, making them feel as if they are living in this town.
