On FM Kurashiki, every Saturday from 8 AM to 9 AM, we broadcast "Gather! Elementary School Students".

The personality, Asuka Abe, visits elementary schools in Kurashiki City to interview children who talk about the charm of their schools and school districts, as well as their big dreams. Through the genuine voices of the children, we can once again feel the charm of the community.

In the broadcast on January 24, 2026 (Saturday), we introduced the situation at "Tsubue Elementary School" located in Tsubue, Kurashiki City.

We will share the lively voices of the children.

In "Gather! Elementary School Students," we conduct direct interviews with sixth graders at the visited elementary schools, deeply exploring the charm of the schools everyone attends. Additionally, we highlight the "School District Pride," where children share the good and favorite aspects of their community from their perspective.

They talk about their exciting future dreams and express gratitude to their families who are always with them... We will also present heartwarming interviews that will surely touch the hearts of adults.

This time, we visited Tsubue Elementary School in Tsubue, Kurashiki City. The children are lively and enjoying their school life near the chestnut mountain where delicious chestnuts can be harvested.

We immediately asked the children to talk about the charm of Tsubue Elementary School.

About Tsubue Elementary School

The first to appear was Sana Kato. She introduced three charms of Tsubue Elementary School with a clear and loud voice.

The first charm is the spacious schoolyard.
The schoolyard has playground equipment and courts for soccer and basketball, and during recess, many children play joyfully and energetically. It seems that this wide schoolyard is also very active during events like sports day.

The second charm is the "chestnut mountain" that spreads right in front of the school.
Every autumn, chestnut picking becomes a regular event for the children. Kato said, "I look forward to bringing home the harvested chestnuts to eat." In connection with this chestnut mountain, the mascot character "Kuri" was born at Tsubue Elementary School. Both the chestnut mountain and Kuri are important parts of the children's daily lives.

The third charm is the warm community.
Various events such as summer festivals, Tsubue Interaction Fair, and sports festivals are held, and these events are supported by the cooperation of local people and parents. I thought that because of the warm connections in the community, the children can enjoy their school life with peace of mind.

The introduction of the school conveyed the unique charm of Tsubue Elementary School, with nature that allows them to feel the four seasons and the warmth of the local people.

Tsubue Elementary School Students Talk About "School & School District Pride"

Next, we will introduce the "pride in the school and school district" that the children are proud of.

1. The Symbol of the Town "Kamejima Mountain"

The one who presented the school and school district pride was Daisuke Ikuno. Let's hear the TOP 3 in ranking format.

The third place is the rich natural environment surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers.
Right next to the school, there is greenery that adds color to daily life. Furthermore, in October 2025, a "Disaster Prevention Park" was developed as a base to support community safety. The efforts to protect lives while coexisting with nature are one of the great prides of the school district.

The second place is the connection with local people.
To ensure that children can safely commute to school, local people watch over their daily commutes and decorate the bulletin board at the school gate with drawings, showing their affection for Tsubue Elementary School everywhere. It is because of this enthusiastic support that events like festivals are held joyfully, fostering a warm bond in the community that supports the children.

And the honorable first place is the chestnut mountain, which is also a symbol of the school.
The chestnut mountain is carefully maintained by the local people, and Ikuno happily said, "Thanks to the local people, I can eat delicious chestnuts in autumn." Being able to enjoy the chestnuts from the chestnut mountain is a special privilege for the children of Tsubue Elementary School. The chestnut mountain is not only a symbol of the school but also a symbol of the community.

Voices of Children Looking Toward the Future

After learning about the charms of the school, we also asked everyone about their future dreams.

The 16 children who answered the interview shared a variety of dreams, such as becoming a Japanese language teacher, nurse, childcare worker, game creator, and sports player... Imagining everyone's future selves is exciting.

The sight of children challenging themselves with "what they love" gives us adults great courage and inspiration.
