On FM Kurashiki, every Saturday from 8 AM to 9 AM, we broadcast "Gather! Elementary School Students".

The personality, Asuka Abe, visits elementary schools in Kurashiki City to interview children who talk about the charm of their schools and school districts, as well as their big dreams. Through the genuine voices of the children, we can rediscover the charm of the community.

In the broadcast on August 16, 2025 (Saturday), we introduced the situation at "Nakasu Elementary School" located in Mizue, Kurashiki City.

In "Gather! Elementary School Students," we conduct direct interviews with sixth graders at the visited elementary schools, delving deeply into the charm of the schools everyone attends. Additionally, the "School District Pride" segment introduces the good and favorite aspects of the community from the perspective of elementary school students.

They share their exciting future dreams and express gratitude to their families who are always with them... We also deliver heartwarming interviews that can move even adults to tears.

This time, we visited Nakasu Elementary School located in Mizue, Kurashiki City.
The camphor tree on the school grounds serves as a symbol, and it seems that the character inspired by the camphor tree was also devised by the children.

What exactly is the charm of Nakasu Elementary School? We asked the children to tell us right away.

About Nakasu Elementary School

The first to introduce the school was Yuno Torigoe. Although she seemed a bit nervous, she explained clearly and understandably.

Here are three wonderful aspects of Nakasu Elementary School that Torigoe shared.

The first point mentioned was the camphor tree, which is the symbol of Nakasu Elementary School.
This camphor tree stands tall in the center of the school's playground, and in summer, it provides a wonderful shade where students can cool off.

Next, she introduced the character "Kushumaru," created for the 150th anniversary of the school's founding.
Kushumaru is inspired by the camphor tree, which is the symbol of Nakasu Elementary School, and was born from ideas contributed by all the students during the 150th anniversary celebration.

This character, with its large, attractive eyes, is said to be present in various places around the school, always watching over everyone.

Finally, she told us about various initiatives to improve the school. For example, there are "GB Cards" that can be earned for good behavior, and "Color Cone Road" created to reduce the number of people running in the hallways, showcasing the creative efforts being made.

Torigoe also shared her dream of becoming a teacher, inspired by the kind teachers at Nakasu Elementary School. It seems that everyone is working together to create a more enjoyable school life at Nakasu Elementary School.

Children of Nakasu Elementary School Talk About "School & School District Pride"

Next, we will introduce the "pride of the school and school district" that the children are proud of.

This time, three elementary school students presented their favorite spots in the school district.

1. Sakatsu Park is a Place of Relaxation

The first to boast was Yuu Tanoue, who talked about Sakatsu Park, which is located close to the school.

Sakatsu Park is also a famous cherry blossom spot that Kurashiki takes pride in. In spring, many cherry blossom viewers visit to enjoy the vibrant and beautiful blossoms.

Sakatsu Park has many play areas, and the children of Nakasu Elementary School often go there to play, not just during the cherry blossom season. It has become an important place of relaxation for the students of Nakasu Elementary School.

2. Kurashiki Sports Park Used for Annual Excursions

Subaru Ishii introduced the proud spot, Kurashiki Sports Park.

Kurashiki Sports Park is equipped with an athletic field, baseball field, tennis courts, and more, making it attractive for enjoying various sports.

It seems that Nakasu Elementary School uses Kurashiki Sports Park for their annual excursion in May. We hope it continues to be a park where the children's cheerful voices can be heard.

3. A Place for Children to Play, Aeon Mall Kurashiki

Keishin Tokura confidently introduced Aeon Mall Kurashiki as the last proud spot.

Nakasu Elementary School is the closest elementary school to Aeon Mall Kurashiki in Kurashiki City, and Tokura mentioned that he visits the mall once or twice a week.

In addition to the convenience of shopping, the presence of various facilities such as game centers and movie theaters is also a delightful point for the children. Aeon Mall Kurashiki is indeed a familiar presence.

It is clear that there are abundant places for children to play and learn near Nakasu Elementary School. We hope they continue to grow up healthy and happily in the school district.

Voices of Children Looking Toward the Future

After learning about the school's charm, we also asked everyone about their future dreams.

Twenty children responded to the interview.
The dreams shared by the children included being an illustrator, a sports player, a chef, a professional gamer, a police officer, and more, each filled with individuality. Imagining everyone's future selves is exciting.

The sight of children challenging themselves with "what they love" as their driving force gave us adults warm courage and inspiration.
