The event “Harenomino Kurashiki” (commonly known as “Harekura”), which began in 2012 and has become a favorite among local residents, is making its long-awaited return in November 2025.
After a six-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the organizing committee have come together once again, driven by their heartfelt wish for people to “enjoy dining out once more.”

What is Harenomino Kurashiki?
Harenomino Kurashiki is a food and drink event held in the central area around JR Kurashiki Station, where you can freely visit participating establishments.
The event began in 2012 and was held every year through 2019. This year marks its milestone 10th edition.
The volunteer Harenomino Kurashiki organizing committee has continued to plan and run the event, driven by a desire to support restaurants in the Kurashiki area. It has been popular with many people since its first year and has become established as “a day to savor all that Kurashiki has to offer.”
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it became difficult for people to gather and enjoy food together from 2020 onward, and the event went on hiatus for a while.
Six years have passed since the 2019 event.
Having overcome the pandemic, “Harenomino Kurashiki” will finally make its return on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
It looks set to be a special day for both restaurants and participants to rediscover the joy of food.
How to enjoy Harenomino Kurashiki: How to take part
Harenomino Kurashiki is a food and drink event that anyone can easily join by getting a ticket.
Everyone is welcome, whether you enjoy alcohol, don’t drink, or are bringing children. Stroll around Kurashiki and sample the food and drinks each establishment is proud of.
Enjoy it at your own pace, whether on your own or with friends—that’s part of Harenomino’s appeal. Chatting with the people who run the establishments and the little encounters that happen along the way are also part of the fun.
Here’s how the day unfolds, so you can feel confident taking part even if it’s your first time.
1. Get your tickets
Tickets are available as follows:
- Advance ticket
4,500 yen (booklet of five tickets / 900 yen per ticket) - Same-day ticket
1,000 yen (sold individually)
Advance tickets are a good deal at 900 yen each. You can buy them with peace of mind, without worrying about them selling out.
If you make a reservation, you can also buy tickets at the advance price when exchanging them on the day.
2. Start your food crawl after exchanging your ticket
Each ticket can be exchanged for “one drink and one food item” at participating establishments.
Choose the places you like and stroll around town as your food crawl begins.
You can use multiple tickets at a single establishment. A booklet of five tickets can also be shared among several people.
Some people use a whole booklet on their own, while others share two booklets among three people and buy additional individual tickets on the day as needed.

3. Pick out the places you want to visit in advance
There are an impressive 74 participating establishments in 2025.
The official Instagram account and website introduce the dishes offered by participating establishments and their atmosphere.
The area stretches about 1 km from one end to the other. Planning ahead is key to making the most of your time.
The official website also features a guide map and a Google Map marked with this year’s participating establishments. Check the locations and routes, and plan your own food crawl.
On the day, the event headquarters booth will be set up in the parking lot next to “Dan Y Dwa.”
Staff will be on hand to help with ticket collection, same-day ticket sales, and directions, so feel free to stop by if you need assistance.
Don’t worry if you have tickets left over: “Ato Nomino”
The event lasts just one day, but there’s a system called “Ato Nomino” to ensure you don’t have to worry if you have tickets left over.
From Monday, November 17 through Sunday, November 23, the day after the event, leftover tickets can be used as 900-yen vouchers at establishments participating in Ato Nomino.
No change is given, but you can use multiple tickets at one establishment.

You can use your tickets to enjoy Kurashiki at a discount not only on the day of the event, but throughout the following week.
We spoke with two members of the organizing committee to find out why they decided to bring Harenomino Kurashiki back after six years.

We spoke with Harenomino Kurashiki committee chair Matsushita Tomohiro and committee member Saito Yasumasa about what went on behind the scenes of the event’s return and what visitors can look forward to.
Enjoying dining out, once again.
It’s been six years since the event was last held. What prompted its return?
Matsushita (surname only hereafter)
This is the 10th time we’ve held it.
We really wanted to do the milestone “10th time” (laughs).
People around us started asking, “Aren’t you going to hold it again soon?” and I began to think it might be about time to do it once more. We also wanted to “bring the bustle back to town” after getting through the pandemic.
I hear the participating establishments have changed quite a bit since before.
Saito (surname only hereafter)
Yes. More than 30 establishments are taking part for the first time.
About half of the 74 participating establishments are new.
Some have been operating for a long time but are joining for the first time this year, and you can really feel how the townscape has changed.
Looking at Instagram, you can really sense how enthusiastic each establishment is.
Matsushita
That’s right. It seems like everyone at the participating establishments is enjoying it with a real “It’s a festival!” spirit. Many places are preparing special dishes just for the event.
Do the popular places get crowded with lines?
Saito
There are especially long lines during the day.
But it quiets down surprisingly at night, so that might be the best time to go. Even when there’s a line, it moves along in about 20 minutes, so I don’t think you’ll feel like you’ve been waiting too long.
What would you like participants to take away from this event?
Matsushita
I’d be happy if people remembered that eating out really is fun.
Going through the COVID-19 pandemic made me realize all over again that sharing a meal with others is something we really need in life.
I truly believe that food and drink are part of life. Laughing, eating, then heading to the next restaurant. Harenomino Kurashiki is where you can experience each of those moments.
A message for first-time participants
Could you share a few words for anyone who’s unsure about taking part?
Saito
Please come and experience it for yourself. I’m sure you’ll see how much fun it is once you’ve taken part.
As you visit the restaurants, your excitement naturally builds, and before you know it, you’re smiling.
Matsushita
You’re welcome to bring children, and we also have juice and light meals, so even those who don’t drink alcohol can have a great time.
Come along and enjoy exploring the town at your own pace.
A message for returning participants
Do you have any special highlights or a message for those who take part every time?
Saito
This event has a lot of returning participants. Even when I look at the reservation emails, I can tell right away, “Oh, this person’s coming back!”
I want to say, “Welcome back! Let’s have fun together again!”
Matsushita
More new restaurants are taking part this time, so the atmosphere should be a little different from usual.
Even regulars should enjoy discovering something new and thinking, “I didn’t know this place was here!”
