The "Parenting Reassurance Series Course" is a series of courses organized by the Kurashiki City Comprehensive Development Consultation Center "Yumeparu". It started in the 2023 fiscal year and is now in its fourth year (2026).

Participation is free. This year, childcare is available for the first five applicants.

Additionally, the "NPO Parent Support Step," which has been supporting parents of children with disabilities in Kurashiki City for many years, is also involved in the operation, which is a notable feature.

Could you tell us about the background and purpose of the course?

We usually receive consultations regarding children with disabilities, but through daily consultations, we often felt that it is not only disabilities that cause difficulties in parenting.

Whether or not there are disabilities, parenting has similar challenges and stumbling blocks. Therefore, we planned this course to focus on "parenting" that is common to all children, not just those with disabilities.

The purpose is to ensure that parents can properly recognize their children and maintain a good parent-child relationship before troubles or secondary disabilities arise. We started with the perspective of "preventive parenting support," providing opportunities to think about parenting before special events occur, and this year (2026) marks our fourth year.

Are there any features of the course?

A major feature of the course is the cooperation and coordination with the "NPO Parent Support Step".

They help draw out important points from the instructors' talks and support the facilitation of group work and sharing time among participants.

The course consistently emphasizes important points of parenting, such as "not hurting children, recognizing them" and "the importance of waiting." Whether attending continuously or as a one-time participant, every session provides valuable insights, which is the greatest feature of this course.
