What is Atelier Daisy?
Atelier Daisy is an atelier combining English and art for parents and children, which opened in Chayamachi, Kurashiki City, in December 2023.
Children can choose for themselves the art materials they want to use and the works they want to create, and make things freely.
During activities, Fukushima, who runs Atelier Daisy, speaks to them in English, helping them become familiar with English naturally.
This is an atelier where children can enjoy expressing themselves freely in a relaxed atmosphere with small groups.
A space that sparks excitement at Atelier Daisy
When you open the door to Atelier Daisy, Fukushima greets you with a bright smile.
Large sheets of paper are posted on the walls, creating a space where excitement naturally bubbles up as you wonder, “What should I draw?”
Crayons and paints are easy to reach, and past creations are on display, inspiring children’s curiosity.
In addition, shelves are lined with English-language picture books.
Children can freely pick up books they might not often have the chance to encounter in their everyday lives.
About the operator, Fukushima Hiroko
Fukushima Hiroko, who runs Atelier Daisy, was originally an English teacher at a junior high school.
After retiring, she became interested in children’s free expression through raising her own children and developed a deeper interest in art. She went on to study parenting and art, and now works at Atelier Daisy as a Kids Art Creator®.

A certified instructor of Atelier happiness bird, a general incorporated association that runs happiness kids art KOBE, which nurtures children who make their dreams come true (trademark registration No. 6299755).
When Fukushima was teaching English to junior high school students, she noticed that the children lacked confidence in expressing themselves.
She therefore believes that incorporating natural spoken English into art time may also help children develop their ability to express themselves verbally.
Her desire to create an environment where sensitivity and verbal expression can develop together led to the creation of Atelier Daisy, which combines art and English.

Free Time
Participants freely choose their favorite art materials, such as crayons and clay, to suit their mood that day, and enjoy creating at their own pace.
As people naturally speak to them in English, they can also experience English in a relaxed atmosphere.
Event Day
These are special art events based on seasonal celebrations and themes, such as Halloween and Christmas. Participants enjoy creating a large, dynamic picture together.
Grow with English
A new class for children aged 1–3, “Tot Time English,” was added in September 2025 to the existing English lessons for children aged 0–2.
These two lessons are collectively called “Grow with English.”
There are two classes: “Baby Steps English” for children aged 0–2 and “Tot Time English” for children aged 1–3. Both are designed for parents and children to enjoy together while experiencing English songs and picture books.
“Tot Time English” also includes simple art experiences and creative activities.
Atelier Open Day
This is an open day when anyone can use the atelier freely.
People of all ages can spend time doing whatever they enjoy, such as adult coloring, reading, or knitting.
Traveling Atelier
They also make occasional visits to local child-rearing support centers and markets.
One of the great things is that you can easily try it without having to visit the studio.
