The "Kurashiki Disaster Prevention Fair," an event for the promotion and awareness of disaster prevention, was held at the Kojima Boat Race parking lot on November 23, 2025 (Sunday).
This year (2025) marks the 4th edition, and this time, all exhibits were centered around the main theme of "experience," featuring a variety of disaster prevention workshops.
Additionally, the weather was favorable, and approximately 12,000 people attended, making it a great success.

The "Kurashiki Disaster Prevention Fair" is an event for the promotion and awareness of disaster prevention organized by Kurashiki City.
It was held on November 23, 2025 (Sunday) from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Kojima Boat Race parking lot.
The Kojima Boat Race parking lot was divided into three areas: "Naruhodo! Experience Area," "Wakuwaku! Experience Area," and "Gathering! Working Vehicle Area," where various events centered around experience booths were held.

Overview of the Day
I arrived at the venue around 11:00 AM, and it was already bustling with many people.
Working Vehicle Area
The area that attracted the most people was the Working Vehicle Area.
In addition to the "standard" vehicles like police cars, motorcycles, and fire trucks, there were also trucks from the Self-Defense Forces that are not usually seen up close.
At a booth I visited, I was particularly interested in the water supply experience and exhibition conducted by the Kurashiki City Waterworks Bureau.
The experience involved filling a water supply bag and carrying it, which was educational as I learned about the system.
In recent years, including Kurashiki City, many municipalities across the country have been hearing news about aging infrastructure such as water pipes, leading to increases in water rates for facility updates.
During this time, I learned that instead of simply updating existing facilities, they are updating to equipment that can withstand disasters, such as earthquake-resistant pipes.
Booth Exhibits
At the booth exhibits, about 60 sponsoring companies and organizations showcased fun and educational displays. The main theme was "experience," and there were many workshops available.
At the booth of the Kurashiki City Disaster Prevention and Crisis Management Office, they were supporting the installation of the "Kurashiki Emergency Notification App", which started operation on October 1, 2025.
Stage Events
When we arrived at the main stage, everyone was performing the 'Bousai PiPit! Dance'.
After that, various performances, including puppet shows, were presented.
One event that particularly stood out was the demonstration of rescue training by the Okayama Prefectural Police Mobile Unit.
Although it was a "demonstration," they were genuinely destroying the car while performing the rescue, and the tense atmosphere was palpable.
Food Truck Area
Around noon, the number of people in the food truck area noticeably increased.
The parking lot of Boat Race Kojima is spacious, and unlike in previous years, there were no long lines, making it comfortable to enjoy meals.
Conclusion
Continuing from last year (2024/2025), the weather was favorable, and many people attended, enjoying learning and experiencing disaster prevention.
While there are many "standard" items like stockpiling in disaster prevention information, initiatives by the government and others are being updated daily.
It was a valuable experience in terms of being able to casually learn about the latest initiatives.
I believe it will likely be held again next year, and I plan to visit again as an opportunity to regularly raise disaster awareness and learn about the latest initiatives.
