When it comes to Kasaoka, the local ramen "Kasaoka Ramen" is famous, isn't it?
However, there are popular ramen shops in Kasaoka City that serve ramen other than Kasaoka Ramen.
That is "Ramen and Gyoza Tonpei (hereafter, Tonpei)."
It is a ramen shop that has been loved in Kasaoka for over 35 years since the Showa era.
Tonpei's ramen is an original ramen based on chicken broth white soup (paitan).
These days, chicken white soup is not uncommon, but Tonpei has been serving ramen based on chicken white soup since the Showa era.
The variety of ramen is also wide, and the healthy gyoza is well received.
We will unravel the history, commitment, and charm of Tonpei.
The information provided is based on the details from the article published in December 2021. Please note that it may differ from current information.
Tonpei is a long-popular ramen shop with original ramen

Tonpei is a ramen shop located along Prefectural Route 34 (Ibara Line) in the northern part of Kasaoka City, in the Obirai district.
Founded in 1986 (the 61st year of the Showa era).
In 2021 (the 3rd year of Reiwa), it will celebrate its 35th anniversary.
Tonpei has long been loved by locals, and even now, many customers from toddlers to the elderly visit, making it a popular ramen shop where people wait in line.

When it comes to ramen in Kasaoka, the local ramen "Kasaoka Ramen" is known, but Tonpei's ramen is not Kasaoka Ramen.
It is Tonpei's original ramen blended with secret base broth in a long-simmered chicken broth white soup.
Since the time of its founding, when the term chicken white soup had not yet become widely known, Tonpei has continued to offer its unique ramen.

Inside Tonpei, there are counter seats and tatami mat seating.

In the further back space, there are table seats lined up.

Tonpei operates various social media and a website.

Among the side menu, "Gyoza (350 yen)" is popular.
Gyoza also has a unique flavor from Tonpei and is a menu item with many fans.
Additionally, during weekday lunch hours, there is a popular limited quantity "Service Set Meal".
The service set meal comes in two types: "A Set Meal (900 yen)" and "B Set Meal (950 yen)."

The A set meal includes ramen, rice, and 3 pieces of fried gyoza.

The B set meal includes ramen, rice, and 3 pieces of fried chicken.

The ramen for the service set meal can be chosen from options other than the regular ramen.

Additionally, Tonpei also sells takeout ramen and gyoza.

This is a type that you cook at home.

Takeout products can also be shipped nationwide.
Recommended and popular menu items at Tonpei
Tonpei offers a wide lineup of ramen and side dishes.
From among them, we will pick up and introduce recommended and popular menu items.
"Ramen" is loaded with carrots and bean sprouts in a deep chicken broth white soup!

The "Ramen (650 yen)" is Tonpei's standard menu and is the signature dish.
In the center of the ramen, there is a generous amount of thin bean sprouts, and on top of that, there is a mountain of bright red raw carrot slices.

It is rare to see raw carrots in ramen.
It is very colorful and looks delicious.
Next to the bean sprouts and carrots, there are two round slices of chashu.

Additionally, there were green onions and menma.

When you drink the soup, a gentle, mellow sweetness and deep flavor spread, making you want to take another sip.

The soup for Tonpei's ramen is made by simmering high-quality local chicken bones with vegetables for about 18 hours every day.
By combining the soup with secret base broth, it becomes a rich and deep original flavor!
The basic taste and method have not changed since the founding.
Although it looks rich, it is refreshing and has a pleasant aftertaste.
The crunchiness of the carrots, bean sprouts, and green onions adds a refreshing flavor as an accent.

The chewy texture of the noodles pairs well with the soup.

The noodles are custom-made by a noodle manufacturer in the city to match the shop's soup.
Egg whites are not used, and the noodles are aged for about 3 days.
The deliciousness made me drink all the soup.
"Vegetable Ramen" allows you to enjoy the aroma and sweetness of stir-fried cabbage and garlic chives

The "Vegetable Ramen (900 yen)" is also as popular as the regular ramen.
It is ramen topped with stir-fried cabbage and garlic chives on top of the regular ramen.

The stir-fried vegetables are sautéed in sesame oil, giving them a nice flavor!
In addition to stir-fried cabbage and garlic chives, it also contains raw carrots, thin bean sprouts, menma, and green onions, just like the regular ramen.

The char siu in the vegetable ramen is cut into thin strips resembling tanzaku.

The soup has a sweet and deep flavor, enhanced by the aroma of vegetables sautéed in sesame oil, creating an indescribably exquisite taste.
In addition, the various crunchy textures and subtle sweetness of the many vegetables are added.

While the regular ramen also has plenty of vegetables, the vegetable ramen is even more loaded with vegetables and has a delicious flavor that can be felt.
“Gyoza” is packed with cabbage and healthy

As the name suggests, Tonpei offers “Gyoza (350 yen)” as a popular menu item.
Moreover, Tonpei's gyoza has a slightly distinctive flavor.

Tonpei's gyoza is a healthy gyoza centered around vegetables.
The main ingredient is cabbage.
Additionally, it contains garlic, chives, and minced meat.
One side of the gyoza has a beautiful fox-colored crispness, providing a crunchy texture and aroma.
The skin is thin, with a plump texture.

When you eat it, you can feel the crunchy texture of the cabbage along with its subtle sweetness.

From within, the flavor of garlic can be felt, and the flavors of chives and minced meat gradually emerge.
Since the gyoza has a light flavor, you can eat it without getting tired of it.
The ramen at Tonpei, loved in Kasaoka for many years, features an original soup.

Our ramen has a wide variety, but they all use the same broth as the regular ramen!
Miso ramen and curry ramen are made by adding miso or curry to the basic chicken broth white soup.
Other ramen are topped with ingredients on the regular ramen.
Tonpei's soup goes well with any flavor or topping!
