Directly connected to the north exit of JR Kurashiki Station, I visited the exhibition "Fragments of Stars" held at Ario Kurashiki.
In a corner of the second-floor food court, 12 works of paintings and sculptures by four artists are on display.
The exhibition runs from May 10, 2022, to May 22, 2022, and is open from 10 AM to 9 PM.
It was a space that anyone could easily drop by.
What is the exhibition "Fragments of Stars"?
In April 2021, the Okayama Association for Cultural Arts for Persons with Disabilities established the "Art & Job Center."
They are developing a project that employs artists with disabilities, returning profits from the rental of works and the creation of goods using art to the artists.
The "Kiraboshi Art Exhibition" is an art competition aimed at people with disabilities in Okayama Prefecture.
The exhibition "Fragments of Stars" features 12 works by four artists associated with the "Art & Job Center" and the "Kiraboshi Art Exhibition."
Introduction of works that shine with individuality
I will introduce the works that captivated me and drew me in.
Work by Umitaro: "The Bird Saying 'This is Fun!'"
The bird's face is adorably heartwarming, and just looking at it naturally brought a smile to my face.
Additionally, the vivid colors energize me.
I found myself imagining what song the bird might be singing.
Umitaro has a total of four paintings on display.
Each piece has a soft and cute feel, making me feel gentle while observing them.
Work by Kaguratani: Chameleon
The vividly colored chameleon painting is made up of many small dots when you look closely.
I was visiting alone, but I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow!"
The painting, created with countless dots of subtly different colors, captivated me.
Kaguratani had a total of three works on display.
In addition to the painting made with dots, there were also paintings made by combining various materials, which I found interesting.
Work by AyaTORI: Diversity
At first glance, I was struck by the vibrant colors!
When I looked up the meaning of the title "Diversity," it means "variety."
I pondered for a while, imagining that it represents how various people live together in this world.
AyaTORI had three works on display.
Each piece is innovative and thought-provoking.
Work by Yamane Akira: Robot Band
The robots each have different characteristics, and watching them made me feel a sense of excitement.
If I had brought my son from preschool, he would have surely been captivated.
Upon closer inspection, I noticed the intricate details, such as inside the piano and the guitar strings.
Yamane Akira has two works displayed in the center of the venue.
The various robots entertained me.
Conclusion
It was a fulfilling time to touch artworks after a long time, allowing me to forget my daily life.
I took my time to observe each piece and felt I received good energy.
This event is titled "SDGs from Ario."
It is held with the concept of the eighth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, "Decent Work and Economic Growth."
I hope this event becomes a wonderful opportunity to connect the artists with the attendees.
