More than six months have passed since the July 2018 torrential rains.
Thanks to ongoing volunteer activities supporting Mabi and the shops reopening one after another, Mabi is gradually regaining its vitality.
So, the Mabi Photo Walk will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Takenoko Chaya in Makibi Park!
Under the theme “Sharing the charms of Mabi through photography!” photographer Takumi Yano will provide practical instruction in the following two areas during the workshop:
- How to take beautiful photos, focusing on landscapes
- How anyone can edit photos on a smartphone
Let’s have fun sharing the charms of Mabi!
We will also be working with drone pilot Hiroki Tomiyasu to capture aerial footage of Mabi on the day.
We will combine the appealing photos of Mabi taken by participants with aerial footage from the drone to create a video capturing Mabi today.
Through the photo walk, let’s create a piece of content that captures the essence of Mabi and share Mabi’s charms with many people.
We hope this will be an opportunity for people from a variety of fields who love Mabi—writers, bloggers, models, photographers, and more—to come together, learn about Mabi’s charms, and share them. We hope you’ll join us.

What is Kurashiki Tocotoco (Kuratoco)?
Kurashiki Tocotoco (Kuratoco) is a web media outlet sharing information about tourist facilities and restaurants, mainly in the Bikan Historical Area, as well as updates on Mabi.
With the concept of “Sharing what’s happening in Kurashiki,” web writers and bloggers based mainly in Okayama and Kurashiki share the charms of Kurashiki.
Kuratoco regularly holds events where participants learn about and share the charms of the Bikan Historical Area and Mabi. We hope you’ll join us.

Instructor
■Takumi Yano (photographer, cameraman, founder of salon de photo)
Working as a cameraman and photographer under the theme of “transparency.” His major advertising, editorial, and promotional photography clients include JAL, Asahi Shimbun Digital &, and Gentosha GOETHE. He has held solo exhibitions of his work, including “Magic and Reality” and “Blue and New York.”
He also focuses on sharing his work, including posting on note about how to use the VSCO app to beautifully edit photos taken with an iPhone X. He has earned the deep trust of many freelancers and companies.

After completing registration through the Peatix application form, on the day of the networking event, please either:
- Display your ticket in the app on your smartphone
- Show the QR code on a printed copy
and present it at reception.

Kurashiki Tocotoco was launched by web writers and bloggers based mainly in Okayama and Kurashiki.
Recently, more models and photographers have been joining us, and the site has grown into a media outlet “made by everyone.”
At the Mabi Photo Walk, we’d be delighted to welcome not only people who want to learn about Mabi’s charms and those who love Mabi, but also anyone who wants to help bring Mabi to life!
