When you think of "lunch," you might imagine it as something you can only eat during the day.
However, there is a café in Tamashima where you can eat lunch at times other than noon.
The name of that café is "Mark ole Cafe."
At Mark ole Cafe, they serve dishes made with seasonal and local ingredients.
Lunch is the main focus, but you can also enjoy the same menu and prices at night.
In this article, we will introduce the charm of "Mark ole Cafe."
What is Mark ole Cafe?

Mark ole Cafe is located about a 15-minute walk from the south exit of Shin-Kurashiki Station on the JR Sanyo Line.
It started in 2009 when the owner took over the shop from an acquaintance.
Across the street is the department store Tenmaya, and it seems that the parking lot is shared.
The parking lot can accommodate 60 cars, so it's reassuring to come by car.
The interior is spacious and has an open atmosphere.
The decor is primarily brown, with paintings and a piano, giving it a stylish feel.
It felt more like a restaurant than a café.
It's no wonder that there are many female customers.
Cakes in the Showcase

Upon entering the shop, you will see cakes in the showcase.
There seems to be a lot of cakes made with fruits, such as strawberry tarts, melon tarts, and fruit sandwiches.
It's nice to be able to buy fresh sweets at a café.

Some customers even buy just cakes to take home.
All the cakes look delicious, making it hard to choose.
As a strawberry lover, I found myself wanting to try the strawberry tart.
Lunch Menu

Looking at the menu, the lunch options are quite extensive.
Among them, the recommended dish is the "W Plate Lunch."
This value-for-money lunch includes a main dish, dessert, and drink.
While lunch is the main focus, the same menu and prices are also available at night.
You can choose the main dish from the right side of the menu page.
There are also limited-quantity bouillabaisse lunches and salad lunches for those who want a light meal.

I chose the popular loco moco plate from the W Plate Lunch.

The presentation is beautiful, making it enjoyable to look at.
It's nice to have a variety of dishes, including salad and hamburger.

The 100% beef hamburger is very tender, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of the meat.
Additionally, it was served with plenty of demi-glace sauce and a fried egg.
The fried egg had a crispy exterior and a runny yolk, which is the perfect balance for my taste.
There were also soba noodles, omelets, and hijiki seaweed salad available.
Dessert After the Meal

After the meal, three types of desserts are included.
This dessert plate changes monthly.
During the interview, the desserts were mango pudding, yomogi chiffon cake, and white peach sorbet.
The yomogi chiffon cake can be changed to a cake from the showcase for an additional 200 yen.
The chiffon cake is not too sweet and is light and fluffy, making it easy to enjoy even after a meal.
At Mark ole Cafe, you can enjoy stylish lunches made with seasonal domestic vegetables in a spacious interior.
The lunch using seasonal domestic vegetables is visually appealing and fills your stomach.
I spoke with Kusumoto Yoriko, the general manager of Mark ole Cafe.
