However, the Hayashima Mushironomiichi is an event that attracts families with children and craft enthusiasts, making it an “old but a little new” event.

What is the Third Hayashima Mushironomiichi?

The Hayashima Mushironomiichi is a flea market event featuring a variety of items that have “colored someone’s life,” such as old tools, miscellaneous goods, and craft works. In addition to that, there is a rich food corner, and workshops and experience corners that children can enjoy.

The term “莚” refers to simple mats made from woven straw, rush, or bulrush. Hayashima Town has developed as a town of rush and rush products.

What led to the establishment of the Hayashima Mushironomiichi?

We wanted to rediscover the charm of Hayashima's rich history and the “road culture” where people and things interact, and create enjoyable times in Hayashima through seeing, talking, and buying. Additionally, during the first and second editions, we experienced an unexpected number of visitors, which made us feel the vitality of the community, leading to this third edition.

Why was the kanji for “莚” changed from “筵” in the event name?

It seems that among people related to mats, the kanji “莚” is often used instead of “筵.” Therefore, we made the change.
