The Takahashi River Basin Crossing Forum/Exchange Meeting is one of the initiatives of the Takahashi River Basin Crossing Project conducted by Kurashiki City.
It will be held on February 2, 2025 (Sunday).
About the "Takahashi River Basin Crossing Project"
The Takahashi River Basin Crossing Project aims for sustainable economic development in the Takahashi River basin area.
It provides opportunities to activate exchanges between companies in the Takahashi River basin and companies and educational institutions inside and outside the area, supporting innovations that utilize local resources, technologies, and services that arise from these exchanges.
In the 2024 fiscal year, the following two initiatives were the focus:

Overview of the Takahashi River Basin Crossing Forum/Exchange Meeting
The 2025 Takahashi River Basin Crossing Forum/Exchange Meeting will be held at the Kurashiki Central Hospital Preventive Medical Plaza.
The forum consists of talk sessions and keynote speeches.
The talk sessions will be divided into four genres: medical, education, culture, and startups, allowing participants to freely attend the sessions they are interested in. People active in each field will take the stage to address regional issues and the future of the region. The talk sessions will take place in two locations: the Kokuga Hall on the 5th floor and the training room on the 1st floor.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Miyata Hiroaki, who is active in fields such as data science, scientific methodology, and Value Co-Creation.
At the end of the forum, there will be a talk session on the theme of The Future of the Region and Prospects, featuring Miyata Hiroaki, Isozumi Koji, and Sakamoto Daisuke.

After the forum, there will also be an exchange meeting that was very well received last time.
The exchange meeting will be held in a standing buffet format, making it easy for participants to talk to each other while enjoying delicious food, and deeper interactions are expected.

What is the intention behind this forum?

Modern Japan faces many challenges, such as population decline, and there are many people striving daily to seize the business opportunities hidden within the process of solving these challenges.
I hope the Takahashi River Basin Crossing Forum will serve as a place to gain hints for solving challenges for those rooted in the community and leading the future of the region, as well as a starting point for new initiatives.
The theme of the 2025 forum is "Cross Borders." We have planned an event that invites guests from various industries to create new exchanges that transcend industry and job boundaries.
While the forum may not directly lead to solving challenges, I believe that by listening to talks from different fields and engaging in exchanges, participants can gain new insights, and from there, clues to solving challenges may emerge.
Additionally, I hope that new businesses will be created as a result of interactions among participants, and that this initiative will further invigorate the entire basin area.
Are there any highlights or differences from the previous forum (2024)?

The most significant difference is that we will have talk sessions on the new categories of education and culture. Both education and culture are essential fields for the region, but this is the first time we are addressing them.
Especially regarding education, it is a place where players who will carry the future of the region are born, so I think it will be an opportunity to learn about the role of the education industry in the region.
Additionally, this time, in collaboration with our partner, Kurashiki Central Medical Institution Clinical Research Institute, we will set up exhibition booths to introduce the initiatives and equipment of companies related to healthcare, so please come and check it out.
What benefits do you think participants will gain?

The talk sessions will gather frontrunners from various fields, so I believe participants will hear valuable insights from each industry. Personally, I would be happy if they could use this as an opportunity to gain new ideas or hints for different ways of thinking.
I also hope that connections among participants will lead to the creation of new businesses.
What kind of people would you recommend this to?

I think it is an opportunity to learn about how local business owners are approaching their work and what kind of thoughts they have.
I would recommend this forum not only to current business owners but also to educators and those considering starting a business in the future. I believe it will provide very useful insights, especially for those who want to start a business.
I would also like to encourage students to participate. In past forums, there have been some university students participating, not just working adults.
There is an increasing number of cases where students challenge entrepreneurship while still in university, and I believe it is our role in the Commerce and Industry Division to support those who want to do something for the community.
