Completely original detective mystery
"K/Detective-less Detective Opera" is an original work created every year by citizen cast members, focusing on local figures and history.
The protagonist this time is Ginji, a yakuza who is on the run after stealing money.
As the title suggests, Ginji is mistaken for "Detective K" and gets caught up in a murder case involving the inheritance of a wealthy family.
Who is the culprit of the incident? Can the fake detective Ginji solve the case? The conclusion of the story is intriguing, but the emotional changes of the characters are also a charm of this story.
At first, Ginji was supposed to be looking for a chance to escape, but as he is relied upon and needed by everyone as a real detective, he begins to seriously pursue the truth.
There are many scenes where the unreliable fake detective makes you laugh, but also pay attention to the emotional changes of each character and the weaknesses of those who tell lies.
The depth of the story expands significantly, and before you know it, it becomes a story that gently warms your heart.
The story is set in Mabi
Around the end of World War II in 1945, the novelist Yokomizo Seishi evacuated to the Okada district of Mabi, Kurashiki City.
While living there and interacting with the local people, he learned about the history of the area and created the detective novels featuring "Detective Kindaichi Kosuke" as the protagonist.
The "Yokomizo Seishi's evacuation house," which is now open to the public for free while retaining the appearance of the time, and the "1000 People Kindaichi Kosuke" event, which attracts fans from all over the country, are cultural sites related to Yokomizo Seishi and Kindaichi Kosuke that are still cherished by the local people.
This musical, by focusing on the theme of a great detective, is expected to shine a light on the charm of Mabi while valuing its history.

In "K/Detective-less Detective Opera," 35 citizen cast members aged from 5 to 72 are participating.
Practice started in May 2025.
They have been practicing from the very basics, such as how to project their voices and how to stand.
Yasuki Watanabe, who is trying musical theater for the first time, said he was inspired to step forward after watching the previous musical and thought, "I want to participate too."
When asked about his impressions of this first challenge, he said, "I feel it is difficult to convey through acting without relying on voice and words."
In addition to acting, there is singing and dancing, and just watching the practice seems to be quite challenging, but laughter can often be heard from the rehearsal space, creating a friendly atmosphere.
Natural comments from members who have practiced together for 10 months, such as "The position was a bit more over here," can also be seen.
Amidst the challenges, the impression of facing practice while enjoying it with friends was striking.
The children's expressions are also serious.
They show an unexpected level of expressiveness that is hard to imagine from their cute appearances.
Every time I see them, their level of completion visibly increases, and I find myself unable to refrain from cheering for them.
