Founded in 1966, Sakamoto Keiran Co., Ltd. has supplied processed egg products such as rolled omelets to companies in the Mizushima Industrial Complex as part of their industrial catering menus.
This long-established company has supported Mizushima, home to one of Japan’s leading industrial complexes, through eggs.

After operating as a wholesaler for many years, the company opened a direct-sales shop in 2021 in Bisei Town, Ibara City, where it has its own poultry farm. Since then, it has held “HOSHINOSATO EGG MARCHE,” bringing together shops serving dishes made with Sakamoto Keiran eggs and meat from mature chickens.

Here’s a look at the 25th edition of the market, to be held in Mizushima on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

What is MIZUSHIMA EGG MARCHE?

MIZUSHIMA EGG MARCHE is a market hosted by Sakamoto Keiran Co., Ltd., featuring dishes and sweets made with delicious eggs, as well as drinks and goods.

The first event was held in 2021 in Bisei Town, Ibara City, where the company’s poultry farm is located, under the name “HOSHINOSATO EGG MARCHE.” Since 2023, the company has also held events under the same name in Mizushima, where its factory is located.

Starting with this event, the 25th in total since the first, the name will change to “MIZUSHIMA EGG MARCHE” (hereafter, “Egg Marche”), but the event itself will remain the same.

Interview with the President and CEO of Sakamoto Keiran

We spoke with Sakamoto Akiyoshi, President and CEO of Sakamoto Keiran Co., Ltd., who is responsible for planning and running Egg Marche, about this year’s highlights and how to enjoy the event.

The name of Egg Marche has changed to “MIZUSHIMA EGG MARCHE” this time.

That’s right.
“HOSHINOSATO EGG MARCHE,” the name we used before, was chosen through a public naming contest. It reflects our hope of raising awareness of our product, Hoshinosato Eggs.

Now that Egg Marche is in its 25th edition and has become better known, more people in the community have been asking us, “When is the next Egg Marche?” We’ve come to feel that people in the community recognize us as “Sakamoto Keiran, the Egg Marche people.”

This is the sixth time we’ve held the event in Mizushima, and we’ve seen more vendors unique to Mizushima. So we’ve changed the name of the Egg Marche in Bisei Town to “HOSHINOSATO EGG MARCHE” and the one in Mizushima to “MIZUSHIMA EGG MARCHE.”

What are Sakamoto Keiran’s featured products?

2026 marks the 60th anniversary of Sakamoto Keiran’s founding.
We’re spending the year creating original merchandise with companies in Kurashiki City.

At this Egg Marche, we’ll be selling original masking tape and ballpoint pens created in collaboration with KURABUN.

They’ve turned out beautifully, so I hope you’ll buy some.

We’ve also prepared plenty of our “kun-tama sandwiches,” sold exclusively at Egg Marche, so please give them a try.

Do you have any recommendations for how to enjoy the event?

There’s more than just hearty food—we also have drinks and desserts, so I hope you’ll enjoy the whole event venue as you sample your way around.

The vendors have also brought together goods and picture books featuring eggs, chicks, and chickens. The children’s cafeteria group wasn’t included on the flyer, but they’ll be joining us too, so it’ll be an event children can enjoy.

Local shops unique to Mizushima will be there, so I hope you’ll make the trip especially for this event. Shops from places like Bisei Town, whose products aren’t usually available in Mizushima, will also be coming, so I hope local residents will enjoy it too.

You might expect most Egg Marche visitors to be fans of Sakamoto Keiran products, but according to the results of the visitor survey conducted at the previous event, most were new customers who had found out about it through social media such as Instagram.

On the other hand, the company learned that fans who regularly buy Sakamoto Keiran products at supermarkets and other stores weren’t hearing about the event. Starting this time, promotional flyers for Egg Marche are being included with eggs sold at supermarkets and other stores.
