About a 1-minute walk from JR Kurashiki Station, I visited the "Kurashiki Tocotoco Aquarium" held at Tenmaya Kurashiki Store from March 26 to May 8, 2022, where I saw cute rare creatures.
The admission fee is 600 yen for children and 900 yen for adults, including tax.
Since I went on a weekday during spring break, the main customers were children from babies to early elementary school age and their guardians.
Upon entering, the venue was generally dimly lit, and it was heartwarming to see small children crying out of fear.
Aquariums and cages were lined up with gaps in between, each containing one type of creature.
On that day, a total of 23 types of creatures were on display.
Cute and Creepy Creatures
I will introduce some of the creatures that were popular with the children and that I was glad to see.
Clownfish
Many parents and children enjoyed watching, saying, "It's Nemo!" because it resembles Nemo from the animated movie Finding Nemo.
They swim freely in the tank with their vibrant bodies.
Acorn Crab
The large crab, about 60 centimeters long with long limbs, seemed rare, and there was a boy watching it intently.
It moved its limbs slowly in the tank, walking sideways.
Meerkat
This was the creature that made my heart flutter the most that day.
It seemed to be the most popular among the children as well.
I witnessed several families returning to see the meerkats again after finishing viewing everything.
The characteristic two-legged standing posture of the meerkat was incredibly cute.
It was moving around quickly inside the cage.
Panda Goldfish
The fish that looks like a ping pong ball was floating and swimming slowly.
Its body, which looked like a goldfish filled with air, was unusual.
Its round, large black eyes were also distinctive.
Redtail Catfish
This is a larger catfish, characterized by its catfish-like face and whiskers.
Since it is large and does not move much, it was easier to observe compared to other creatures, and children gathered around it.
Angora Rabbit
This is a rabbit with long, fluffy fur that makes you want to touch it.
I watched it for a while, but its fur was so long that I couldn't see its face.
It was heartwarming to see it engrossed in eating grass.
Conclusion
I visited the "Kurashiki Tocotoco Aquarium" with the excited feeling of wanting to see rare creatures that I don't often get to see.
I was able to observe many creatures I had never seen or heard of before, and I think I spent a satisfying time.
I was healed by the unique and cute creatures, and it was a good distraction.
