A stylish spot in the Bikan Historical Area: “Cuore Kurashiki”
Cuore Kurashiki opened in July 2014.
It was originally a wedding venue.
The hostel occupies the second and third floors, while the basement level houses the bar.

First, let’s take a look at Bar Cuore in the basement.
It’s so stylish, it’s a little thrilling.
There was art like this on the stairs, too.
Each piece has a playful touch, conveying the desire to entertain guests.
Inside Bar Cuore: open and artistic
The interior of Bar Cuore is unified by modern, high-quality furnishings.
The bar is more spacious than expected, and plenty of light pours in despite being underground.
It feels wonderfully open.
That’s because the bar has a high, open ceiling.
From the basement bar, you can look out over the hostel rooms.

Many works of art are also displayed throughout the bar.
This area is themed after a movie theater.
It evokes the atmosphere of good old America.
Even Ted the teddy bear is engrossed in the movie!

You can enjoy it in a way that suits your group size and mood that day.

Cuore Kurashiki’s lunch menu is all laid out!
The table is quite a sight.
This is the “hands-on seafood.”
It costs ¥2,200 per person (tax included) and can be ordered for two or more people.

In addition to seafood, this signature Cuore Kurashiki dish comes with:

You can enjoy it only at Cuore Kurashiki and its sister restaurant, Cuore Moyamachi, in Okayama Prefecture.
Crab, shrimp, mussels, corn, and potatoes marinated in a spicy tomato sauce make this a dish that delights the eyes, the palate, and the appetite.
It isn’t spicy, so it’s delicious for both adults and children.

Disposable gloves are provided, so dig in with gusto and enjoy without worry.

There’s plenty of meat, and it goes perfectly with the sauce.
A generous salad topped with prosciutto, tomato, and bell pepper.
With soup and a baguette, it’s a hearty meal.

Cuore Kurashiki’s lunch motto is “flavors you can’t find at other restaurants.”
The top recommendation is the “Burrito Lunch.”
Authentic burritos from Mexico are indeed hard to find in Okayama and Kurashiki.
The “Chicken Burrito” is light and refreshing, like a salad.
Chicken, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and saffron rice made with Thai rice are wrapped in a tortilla.
The “Beef” features slow-braised meat and plenty of vegetables.
It’s packed with Thai rice, too!
Even when you’re full, it’s so delicious you’ll polish it off in no time.

Since October 2019, it has been available for 880 yen on its own (tax included), or 1,100 yen with a drink (tax included).

A hostel like a warm home, with lovely art-filled rooms
We were given a special tour of one of the hostel’s rooms.
Enter the hostel through the door on the right at the front.
With its large atrium and courtyard, the place feels like a village or community of its own.
It seems like a place where strangers can connect across gender and nationality.
Works of art can be found everywhere.
International guests are sure to enjoy them.

What struck me when I entered was how lush and vibrant all the greenery was.
Although it’s a basement bar, it felt just like a stylish open-air terrace overseas.
And of course, the “Handheld Seafood” was a surprise—and a delight!
You don’t often find a dish that gets everyone this excited.
