On April 8, 2026 (Wednesday), a Hayashima Town Walking Course will be held in Hayashima Town. A Hayashima Tourism Volunteer Guide who is knowledgeable about Hayashima will guide you, deepening your understanding.

What is the Hayashima Town Walking Course?

The Hayashima Town Walking Course is an event where you can experience and discover various things while walking around Hayashima Town. It will take place on April 8, 2026 (Wednesday), starting from two locations: Hayashima Town Central Community Center and JR Hayashima Station. You can rest assured as both locations will follow the same course.

1. JR Hayashima Station (Introduction of the new station building)
2. Ryujin Shrine, the starting point of the Ukita embankment
3. Anyo-in Temple
4. Konpira Lantern
5. Seisuke House
6. Koike Confectionery (freshly made dango)
7. Tokawa Family Jinya Ruins
8. Hayashima Park
9. Ki・Kiri・Sato (bento lunch)
10. Mizote House (exterior)
11. Funamoto Kojin Shrine
12. Central Community Center (Igusa weaving experience)
13. Disband around 3 PM

I asked a representative from the Hayashima Town Tourism Association about the appeal of the Hayashima Town Walking Course.

What led to the establishment of the Hayashima Town Walking Course?

Hayashima is a region with a lot of history that can only be noticed by walking, as it was "once an island town" and "a bustling highway during the Edo period." To let both locals and visitors know about its charm, the Hayashima Tourism Volunteer Guide Association is taking the lead in organizing this walking event.

Have similar courses been held in the past?

Representative

Yes, it was also held last year (2025), making this the second time.
This time, in addition to just walking around the town, we will stop by a long-established wagashi (Japanese sweets) shop and have lunch in a traditional house, allowing participants to enjoy it with all five senses.

Is there a particular place on the course that you want participants to experience and feel deeply?

Representative

We will specially prepare Mitarashi dango (sweet rice dumplings). The "freshly made" ones enjoyed while walking are exceptional. Look forward to the workshop using igusa (rush grass) as well.
