What is the Kurashiki Afternoon Tea × MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki Special Event?
The collaboration event between MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki and Kurashiki Afternoon Tea is being held from Monday, July 1 to Monday, September 30, 2024.
It was planned with the hope that “people will enjoy shopping in the city after enjoying afternoon tea.”
Simply bring a Kurashiki Afternoon Tea receipt or use a Mitsui Shopping Park Card 《Saison》 to pay, and you can get special perks at MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki.
There are two perks:
- “LUPICIA Bon Marche” tea bag set
- MITSUI OUTLET PARK shopping and dining vouchers
“LUPICIA Bon Marche” tea bag set
In exchange for a Kurashiki Afternoon Tea receipt, you can get a tea bag set from LUPICIA, a specialty tea shop.
The tea brand is “LUPICIA Bon Marche,” LUPICIA’s original brand built around the concept of “not wasting.”
There are many flavors, and since the gifts are handed out at random, you’ll have to wait until the day to find out which tea you receive.
The exchange location is the information desk on the first floor of MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki. Only the first 150 people each month can receive one, so we recommend exchanging your receipt early.
This tea giveaway is irresistible for afternoon tea lovers. It’s a lovely perk that lets you enjoy tea time even after you get home.
MITSUI OUTLET PARK shopping and dining vouchers
Pay for your afternoon tea with a Mitsui Shopping Park Card 《Saison》 and you’ll receive MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki shopping and dining vouchers.
There are two payment options: payment on the day or advance payment.
For payment on the day, use a Mitsui Shopping Park Card 《Saison》 to pay for Kurashiki Afternoon Tea, then take your credit card receipt to the information desk to receive a ¥500 MITSUI OUTLET PARK shopping and dining voucher, usable on purchases of ¥5,000 or more.
Some stores do not accept credit card payments
Advance payment is available only to those using Nippon Travel Agency’s Kurashiki Afternoon Tea package plan. Present your reservation confirmation email and the Mitsui Shopping Park Card 《Saison》 used for payment at the information desk, and you’ll receive a ¥500 MITSUI OUTLET PARK shopping and dining voucher for every ¥3,000 spent (tax included). The maximum voucher value is ¥3,000.
Nippon Travel Agency’s package plan includes round-trip Shinkansen tickets from the Kansai region and one Kurashiki Afternoon Tea meal. You can enjoy it for a great price, starting at ¥8,700, including transportation.
Payment on the day and advance payment cannot be combined

Could you tell us how this collaboration came about?

Many women visit our outlet, so we considered what kind of event they would enjoy. As a result, we planned a collaboration with Kurashiki Afternoon Tea, a popular event in the city.
At first, we planned it for Mitsui Shopping Park Card 《Saison》 members, with the idea that they could “enjoy afternoon tea as well as shopping.” But as we worked on it, the idea developed into wanting Kurashiki Afternoon Tea customers to enjoy MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki too, so we prepared giveaways for non-members as well.

Morita, as chair of the Kurashiki Afternoon Tea Executive Committee, how did you feel when you heard about the proposal?

First, I was very grateful that they knew about Kurashiki Afternoon Tea. They also prepared wonderful giveaways and perks, and I thought, “Is it really okay to have such a lavish collaboration?”
Also, MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki has a strong reach beyond the city and prefecture, so it was a great help that they promoted this event to their members.

On the other hand, we were helped by the strong reach of Kurashiki Afternoon Tea’s Instagram account. We hope that sharing information with each other will bring even more customers to the event.
The event has already started. What kind of response have you received from customers?
Hiyama
It’s been just under a month since the event began, and we’ve given tea giveaways from LUPICIA to many customers. More and more people are also redeeming the shopping and dining vouchers.
As a facility, we also wanted people visiting for sightseeing in places such as the Bikan Historical Area to learn about MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki, so we’re delighted that this event has brought them to the facility.
Shibaoku
Customers have shared lovely comments such as, “I can get something this nice?” and “I’m glad I came all this way.” We were also very grateful that people who had enjoyed afternoon tea in the Kojima area came to visit.
Many people shop right after stopping by the information desk, and we’re glad they seem to be enjoying both afternoon tea and shopping.
Morita
On Instagram, I saw posts from customers who redeemed the perks, sharing photos of their tea bags and saying, “I got a lovely giveaway from LUPICIA!” I’m happy to see that people are enjoying them.
How would you like people to enjoy themselves through this event?
Hiyama
At this time of year, you can find great deals on summer clothes to wear through the hot days ahead, and our fall clothing has also started arriving, so we hope you’ll enjoy fashion suited to the season.
Also, we have a great selection of shops selling goods, so we recommend looking for tableware, home decor, and more.

However, when there’s a collaboration event like this one, you’ll want to stop by MITSUI OUTLET PARK Kurashiki as well, to walk off your meal. After enjoying a delicious meal, shopping together sounds like a great way to keep the conversation flowing.
The Lupicia tea bags given as a novelty gift seem like a lovely way to savor the afterglow of afternoon tea at home, and I thought they were a perk that would really appeal to afternoon tea fans.
