Kurashiki City announced that, based on the national government’s “Comprehensive Economic Measures to Realize a ‘Strong Economy,’” it will provide a one-time payment of 20,000 yen per child, from newborns through high school age, starting in late February 2026 to support households raising children that are heavily affected by rising prices. The payment is called the Child-Rearing Support Allowance to Address Rising Prices.

Program Overview
To support households raising children that are heavily affected by rising prices, a one-time payment of 20,000 yen will be provided for each child from newborns through high school age.
- Eligible recipients who receive Child Allowance from Kurashiki City do not need to apply.
- Public employees who receive Child Allowance from their employer are generally required to apply.
Eligible Recipients
Guardians raising children eligible for Child Allowance (born between April 2, 2007, and March 31, 2026)
- Recipients of Child Allowance for September 2025
(For children born in September 2025, recipients of Child Allowance for October) - Recipients of Child Allowance for newborns born between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026
Payment Amount
20,000 yen per child (one-time payment)
This is not an increase to the monthly Child Allowance.
How to Apply
Those Receiving Child Allowance from Kurashiki City
No application is required. The payment schedule is planned as follows.
- From early February 2026
Notice of the allowance mailed - From late February 2026
Payment deposited into the account used to receive Child Allowance
Payment for newborns born on or after October 1, 2025, may be made later than the dates above.
Public Employees (Those Receiving Child Allowance from Their Employer)
An application is generally required.
Check the information from your employer. If you need to apply, submit your application to the municipality where you were registered as a resident as of September 30, 2025. (For newborns born on or after October 1, 2025, apply to the municipality where you were registered as a resident when your eligibility for Child Allowance was approved.)
Application Methods and Period
In Kurashiki City, early acceptance of applications online began on Monday, January 26, 2026. Apply online. Payments are scheduled to begin in late March.
- Online applications (application period: January 26–March 31, 2026)
- Applications by mail or at the counter (application period: February 9–March 31, 2026)
Applications for newborns born on or after February 1, 2026, will be accepted through April 30, 2026.
