Kurashiki City announced that, based on the national "Comprehensive Economic Measures to Realize a 'Strong Economy'," it will provide a one-time "Cost of Living Support Childcare Allowance" of 20,000 yen per child for households raising children affected by rising prices, from infants to high school students, starting in late February 2026.

Overview of the System
To support households raising children significantly affected by rising prices, a one-time payment of 20,000 yen will be provided for each child from infants to high school students.
- Those eligible who are receiving child allowance from Kurashiki City do not need to apply.
- Public servants receiving child allowance from their affiliated agency generally need to apply.
Eligible Recipients
Parents raising children eligible for child allowance (born between April 2, 2007, and March 31, 2024)
- Recipients of child allowance for September 2025
(For children born in September 2025, recipients of child allowance for October) - Recipients of child allowance for newborns born between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026
Amount of Payment
20,000 yen per child (one-time payment)
This does not increase the monthly child allowance.
Application Method
Those Receiving Child Allowance from Kurashiki City
No application is necessary. The schedule for payment is as follows:
- Early February 2026 –
Notification of the allowance will be mailed - Late February 2026 –
Payment will be transferred to the child allowance recipient's account
Payments for newborns born after October 1, 2025, may be delayed beyond the above schedule.
Public Servants (Those Receiving Child Allowance from Their Affiliated Agency)
Generally, an application is required.
Please check the guidance from your affiliated agency, and if an application is necessary, apply to the municipality where the applicant's residence was registered as of September 30, 2025. (For newborns born after October 1, 2025, please apply to the municipality where the applicant's residence is registered at the time of child allowance certification.)
Application Method and Application Period
In Kurashiki City, advance online applications will start from January 26, 2026 (Monday). Payments are scheduled to begin in late March 2026.
- Online application (Application period: January 26, 2026 – March 31, 2026)
- Mail and in-person application (Application period: February 9, 2026 – March 31, 2026)
The application period for newborns born after February 1, 2026, will be until April 30, 2026.
