After work or on the way back from an outing, there may be days when you think, "I don't have the energy to cook today."

In such cases, it would be nice to have a favorite place in mind where you can slowly enjoy hot and delicious side dishes at home.

The takeout-only yakitori shop "Yakitori Nacchan," located in Mizushima, Kurashiki City, is a place that fulfills your daily "little help."

Here, we will introduce the commitment of "Yakitori Nacchan" and the warm thoughts of the owner, Natsuyama Katsunori.

What is Yakitori Nacchan?

"Yakitori Nacchan" is a takeout yakitori shop that started in 2010 by owner Natsuyama Katsunori, originally as a mobile sales business.

Currently, the shop located in Mizushima, Kurashiki City was originally used as a preparation area, but it started full-scale shop operations around 2017. Now, it is well-loved in the area as a popular takeout-only yakitori shop.

Enjoy freshly grilled yakitori

With the owner's desire for customers to enjoy freshly made yakitori, "Yakitori Nacchan" has the motto of grilling after receiving an order.

I often go to buy, and I especially feel that the freshly grilled ones are delicious. To accommodate customers in a hurry, they sometimes prepare in advance.

Additionally, to allow people outside the prefecture to enjoy it, they also vacuum pack the freshly made products and freeze them for nationwide shipping. Customers have contacted them saying, "It was delicious," and it seems to be very well received.

The cheerful and humorous owner, Nacchan

The name "Nacchan," which is also the name of the shop, is the nickname of Mr. Natsuyama.

Customers also call him Nacchan, and it seems that he is loved by everyone.

Popular yakitori menu

The yakitori at "Yakitori Nacchan" is only seasoned with salt. It reflects Mr. Natsuyama's commitment to enjoying the natural flavor of the meat. Finished with just salt and pepper, it is a simple yet luxurious skewer.

The yakitori sold at "Yakitori Nacchan" is as follows.

Additionally, there are yakitori such as "Hatsu" and "Kokorokori" that are added depending on the ingredients available. Although they are open until 7 PM, they may close early if all the products prepared for that day are sold out.

Nankotsu is very popular, and as of May 2025, it is reservation-only with a wait time of over six months.

The yakitori at "Yakitori Nacchan" is sourced from almost entirely domestic chicken, and they pay particular attention to freshness.

Now, let’s introduce the recommended yakitori.

Owner's recommendation: "Hinedori"

Hinedori
Hinedori

The Hinedori recommended by owner Natsuyama is a parent chicken, so it has firm and elastic meat. The more you chew, the more flavor seeps out, and the sweetness of the meat fills your mouth.

The onions skewered with it serve as an accent, enhancing the flavor even more.

"Tebasaki" that you can eat as many as you want

Tebasaki has a reputation for being difficult to eat due to the bones.

However, the tebasaki at "Yakitori Nacchan" has bones that come off easily, allowing you to eat as many as you want. The crispy skin and tender meat create an exquisite flavor.

"Shiso-maki" with a refreshing aroma of shiso that whets your appetite

Whenever I go to buy, this is a dish I always order.
The refreshing aroma of shiso and the meat pair perfectly, making you want to eat it again and again. It is a satisfying dish for dinner as well.

"Sunazuri" perfect for snacks with alcohol

With a crunchy texture and no strong flavor, it is perfect for snacks with alcohol.
The more you chew, the more umami spreads, making you reach for the next bite. The simple seasoning highlights the quality of the ingredients.

Rare part: "Hatsu"

Hatsu is the heart of the chicken.
At first, I was a bit hesitant just hearing the name, but once I tried it, I was completely hooked on its deliciousness. The plump texture and rich umami are addictive. It seems that it is not easy to source, so it's a lucky day when it appears on the menu.

As the opening time approaches, orders come in one after another, and Mr. Natsuyama skillfully grills the yakitori. From this, you can see the popularity of the shop. I spoke with Mr. Natsuyama, who is loved by many customers.
