On November 4, 2019, a clear autumn day, the Harenomino Kurashiki 2019 event was held.
I saw many groups spreading out maps and discussing, “Where should we go next?” “What should we eat?”
Couples, friends, families, and colleagues from various groups walked around the area near JR Kurashiki Station and the Bikan Historical Area.
Some shops had long lines, making it busier than usual.
Let me introduce the atmosphere of the 9th Harenomino Kurashiki event!
What is Harenomino Kurashiki?

Harenomino Kurashiki is a one-day-only food and drink walking event.
When you go to participating stores with a ticket, you receive a drink and food.
Tickets are sold in advance as a booklet of five for 3,500 yen.
Additionally, same-day tickets can be purchased individually for 800 yen each.
If you plan to visit more than five shops, purchasing advance tickets is more economical.
All participating stores offer non-alcoholic drinks, so those who are not fond of alcohol or minors can also participate.
For more details, please refer to the article below.
The 9th Harenomino Kurashiki event
The 9th Harenomino Kurashiki was held under clear skies.
While looking at the map distributed with the tickets, participants searched for shops.
Among the participating stores, the earliest one opened at 7 AM.
Additional ticket purchases available on the day!
On the day of the event, if you use up your booklet of five tickets and think, “I still want to go to that shop...,” you can purchase additional tickets.
Purchasing same-day tickets or exchanging reserved tickets was done on the west side of the “Danaduwa” store.

On the day of the event, it was possible to purchase tickets individually for 800 yen each.
By the way, advance tickets are only sold in booklets of five.
From around 11 AM to 9 PM, it was possible to purchase same-day tickets and exchange reserved tickets.
Next, I will introduce the shops I visited during Harenomino Kurashiki 2019.
Popular fluffy and crispy buns hamburgers! ICHI
ICHI opened at 11:30, but when I arrived at 11:35, there was a line of about 20 people outside.

It seems good to line up early for popular shops before their opening times.

In the kitchen, many perfectly baked buns are lined up.

At Harenomino Kurashiki 2019, 200 servings were prepared.
Whether 200 servings are a lot or a little depends on the shop, but there are some shops that will end as soon as they run out.

I enjoyed a hot hamburger.
The plump chicken pairs very well with the fragrant homemade buns!
It’s a great deal to be able to eat a hamburger set with just one ticket.
Enjoy up to 16 types of beer! Beer BAR marugen
Being able to drink during the day is one of the charms of Harenomino.
Shops that usually open at night also open during the day for Harenomino Kurashiki.

In front of Beer BAR marugen, there was a line of people saying, “I want to drink delicious beer from the afternoon!”
The time spent waiting in this line is also part of the fun.
People were excitedly discussing, “Which beer should I drink?” and “Shall we go to that shop next?”

I chose “Mixed Juice” from Jorban Beer among the 16 types of beer.
It’s intriguing that it’s a beer yet called mixed juice!
This ale beer offers a fruity taste of peach and apple, along with a banana aroma.
With a refreshing aftertaste, it’s a beer that I can recommend to beginners.

The homemade bacon, rich in herbs, was aromatic and paired well with the beer.
Walking around the Bikan Historical Area and Kurashiki Shopping Street is also recommended during breaks.
Next, I took a leisurely stroll through Kurashiki Shopping Street for some post-meal exercise.

In the shopping street, I encountered Kurashiki City's yuru-chara “Shirakabeno”!
I was able to take a photo with it looking at the camera.

Additionally, the shopping street was also hosting the Kurashiki Photo Mural, and many people stopped to look up at it.
Due to the tourist season, many tourists can be seen in the Bikan Historical Area.

How about enjoying a stroll through the Bikan Historical Area?
You might make some new discoveries.
The fruit cocktails that can be enjoyed in autumn are appealing. Salon de Ric’s
After sobering up a bit from walking around the shopping district, I headed to Salon de Ric’s in search of seasonal fruit cocktails.

From the three drink options, I chose the "Persimmon Frozen Cocktail" and from the four food options, I selected the "Persimmon Creamy Pudding."

The Persimmon Frozen Cocktail has a gentle sweetness that spreads, and its smooth texture elegantly melts on the tongue, making it an easy-to-drink dessert cocktail.
The creamy persimmon pudding has a subtle sweetness packed tightly, making it a dessert suitable for adults.

She was asking customers for their opinions on the taste of the cocktail.
Since I had been to several places focused on alcohol, I was starting to feel a bit hungry.
Enjoy crispy, freshly fried skewers in bite-sized portions! Kushitei
As the sun began to set and it got a bit chilly, I headed to Kushitei to enjoy some crispy skewers.

I was lucky and was able to enter the restaurant with almost no wait.

The menu at Kushitei for Harenomi-no Kurashiki 2019 includes five types of skewers and one drink.
The five skewers of ginkgo, spring rolls, mackerel, beef, and quail eggs were served freshly fried in order.
The "ginkgo," which is in season during autumn, has a beautiful jade color like a jewel.
The deep-fried ginkgo has a fluffy texture that is rich in flavor.

Since they are freshly fried, be careful not to burn yourself when putting them in your mouth.

You can enjoy the skewers with three types of sauces: salt, sauce, and ponzu, each tailored to the ingredients.
I was happy to be able to enjoy them hot and in almost bite-sized pieces.
Enjoy obanzai that pairs well with four types of wine. small ville

small ville's menu for Harenomi-no Kurashiki 2019 includes four types of wine: red, white, orange, and rosé.
Each wine comes with a set of obanzai that pairs well with it.
I was advised to choose a drink that is easy to drink and has a lower alcohol content, so I selected the rosé wine.

The pale pink rosé wine is beautiful, with a hint of strawberry aroma, and the sweetness and acidity of the fruit are balanced by a slight bitterness that tightens the overall flavor.

The mackerel rillettes have a saltiness that enhances the flavor of the wine.
I was able to enjoy the snacks that pair well with the alcohol and savor the wine slowly.
Completely satisfied with the chewy texture of the udon. Kurashiki's specialty "Kurashiki Udon Bukkake Furuichi Nakaten"
In search of a menu that would fill me up, I visited Kurashiki Udon Bukkake Furuichi Nakaten.

At Harenomi-no Kurashiki 2019, the menu includes either hot or cold "Bukkake Udon" and one drink.

I enjoyed the familiar "Bukkake Udon (hot)" topped with seaweed, tempura scraps, green onions, sesame seeds, and quail eggs, which is well-known among the citizens of Kurashiki City.
The chewy noodles have a moderate elasticity, and the sweet and savory broth gently clings to them.
While some places focus on alcohol, others focus on meals, and I noticed some people heading to bars after filling up at this restaurant.
Finally, relax at a cozy bar. BAR Kurashiki capri
We headed to BAR Kurashiki capri, which is a 2-minute walk from JR Kurashiki Station.

The menu for Bukkake udon at BAR Kurashiki capri during Harenomi-no Kurashiki 2019 included one drink and a platter of three types of snacks.

The orange juice with coconut liqueur was smooth and easy to drink.
Additionally, the three types of snacks ranged from sweet to salty, allowing us to enjoy a variety of flavors.
Seasoned to fully enjoy the flavor of Black Wagyu. “Charcoal Grilled Meat Futaba”
At this year's Harenomi-no Kurashiki 2019, many men likely visited the yakiniku restaurant.

“Charcoal Grilled Meat Futaba” is a yakiniku restaurant located in Kurashiki Department Store.

During Harenomi-no Kurashiki 2019, you could choose between gyudon and gyuzara.
Thinly sliced parts of Black Wagyu, such as belly and kalbi, were generously used.

There were plenty of onions, and the sauce was light, with pepper sprinkled on top, allowing us to fully enjoy the flavor of the meat.
An izakaya with attractive fresh sashimi. “Kaisendon Katatsumuri”
We headed to the seafood izakaya “Kaisendon Katatsumuri,” directly operated by a fish shop.
“Kaisendon Katatsumuri” is a restaurant that recommends fresh fish from the Sea of Japan.

During Harenomi-no Kurashiki 2019, you could set either “San'in Sashimi Platter” or “San'in Anago Tempura” with a drink.

The sashimi included a platter of three types: sea bream, madai, and hiramasu.
The sea bream had a firm texture and a refined sweetness.

Hiramasu had a crunchy texture and was rich in oil, making it a delightful pairing with sake.
Conclusion
A drinking event where you can visit many shops in one day, “Harenomi-no Kurashiki.”
As a food lover, this was my third time participating in the 9th Harenomi-no Kurashiki.
Thanks to this event, I have discovered many favorite shops.
I hope you will visit the shops that interest you again and take your time to enjoy the food, drinks, and atmosphere of the places.
I also want more people to know that Kurashiki has attractive dining establishments.
One of the features of the event is that conversations spark between shop staff and participants over drinks and meals.
Did you encounter any favorite or interesting shops at Harenomi-no Kurashiki 2019?
I am already looking forward to the 2020 event!
