Margo Deli, which sells coffee and fresh juice in Okayama Prefecture.
The 8th store, ⑤Deli Ojigadake, has a very different atmosphere from the previous stores.
Mr. Yabuki Kenta (Yabuki Kenta), from the Kurashiki City Tourism Division, has been working hard to promote the Ojigadake Rest House through initiatives such as trial soundings.
Mr. Hirano Yuji (Hirano Yuji), the representative director of Margo Deli, not only provides drinks but also creates connections between people through the store.
We interviewed both of them.
The interview features content from the initial coverage conducted in June 2023.
I hope it becomes a trigger to promote Ojigadake
A permanent store, ⑤Deli Ojigadake, has been established at the Ojigadake Rest House.
Yabuki
The Ojigadake Rest House is a facility owned by Kurashiki City.
Since 2020, we have been conducting trial soundings with private businesses to consider ways to utilize the facility to maintain the building.

We were lending the Ojigadake Rest House for free for events and stores.
However, it was only used during the tourist season and on weekends.
I really wanted it to be open continuously even during the off-season.
Having people around all the time creates vibrancy and allows for tourist information to be provided.
And this time, it has been decided that ⑤Deli Ojigadake will enter the building until the time for rebuilding the structure.

Is the timing for rebuilding the building decided?
Yabuki
The timing for rebuilding is undecided.
Rather than keeping it empty because it will be rebuilt, I think it would be nice to utilize it since the view is good.
It’s a place that heals just by looking at the scenery.

The interior has been entrusted to Margo Deli.
They are also free to use the chairs that were originally there.
There were some posters, but they were removed so as not to interfere with the space creation.
Margo Deli polished the floor, making it beautifully transformed.
I would be happy if it has taken the form that Margo Deli desires.

I hope that through ⑤Deli Ojigadake, many people will come to know Ojigadake and that interest will spread to the entire area of Kojima, Kurashiki, Tamano, and the Seto Inland Sea.
I would be happy if people who used to just stop by here would now stay longer because there is a store and enjoy the view.
First, enjoy the view, then the juice
Hirano
I want customers to first see the Seto Inland Sea and the scenery.
There are many places in Japan where you can view the Seto Inland Sea and other seas, but I think the scenery with islands scattered like this is quite rare.
From this Ojigadake, you can see the entire Seto-Ohashi Bridge and even as far as Kagawa Prefecture.
There is also nature all around the building, for example, there are cherry blossoms.
On holidays, you can see paragliders flying, and there are people enjoying nature.

Of course, the view from inside the store and from the rooftop is also excellent.
I would be happy if, while seeking this view, customers could enjoy a juice made with local ingredients and taste what "Okayama" has to offer.

If you are just looking at the scenery, your stay will be short.
With juice and light meals available, you can enjoy the view for a longer time.
To avoid obstructing the view, the interior is unified in white without any strange colors.

Menus born from encounters
What is different from other Margo Deli stores?
Hirano
The "Ouji Sand" (egg sandwich) is the original menu of ⑤Deli Ojigadake.
As of April 2024, the Ouji Sand is no longer being served.
The eggs are from Noda Hatsu in Tamashima, Kurashiki City, and the soy sauce is from Kojima's Shiodaya Brewery.
I went directly to Shiodaya Brewery and said, "I want to open a store using local ingredients at Ojigadake, can I use your soy sauce?"

The concept of Margo Deli is "to eat natural things, value organic human connections, and live emotionally rich lives."
This "organic human connection" means having a visible face, being able to receive from hand to hand, and being able to talk, creating an organic relationship.
The juice recipes are flexible, so if there are good ingredients, new products can be created using them.
If there are good encounters in the future, new products may be born.

Another difference is the slowness.
Stores in shopping malls tend to prioritize speed, but this one is different.
I want people to enjoy the scenery leisurely, so the service is also slow.

We want to create the shop together
It has just opened, but what kind of shop do you want to create in the future?
Hirano
I would like to hold art and music events.
In pleasant weather, it might be nice to have live performances on the rooftop.

For example, we could invite artists who are trying hard to perform.
It would be interesting if someone who came as an audience member next time performed as an artist and connected with others.
In terms of art, it might be nice to display paintings that match the background scenery.
We could also exhibit and sell works by artists.
Since the shop has just started, it would be great if all the customers could help create it together.
In conclusion
Through the interview, I felt that both Hirano from Marugo Deli and Yabuki from Kurashiki City Tourism Division have a fondness for the view from the shop.
It is a luxurious and wonderful way to spend time enjoying the unique panoramic view of Ojigadake while tasting drinks and light meals made with local ingredients.
I would like to spend a relaxing time while gazing at the changing colors and expressions of the Ojigadake scenery throughout the day.
You will be able to feel the special scenery, space, and flow of time that can only be seen from ⑤Deli Ojigadake.
The shop is still evolving.
I want to keep an eye on the future of ⑤Deli Ojigadake, which is building the shop together with its customers.
