Cakes, baked goods, and bread. When you enter the store and see many products lined up, the time spent deciding which one to choose is enjoyable, isn't it?
Located in Soja City, Pâtisserie Coa (hereinafter referred to as "Pâtisserie Coa") is a Western confectionery shop where you can enjoy not only baked goods and cakes but also bread and glass desserts.
We will introduce "Pâtisserie Coa," which values ingredient selection and is also engaged in making confections inspired by the local area.
Overview of Pâtisserie Coa

Pâtisserie Coa is a Western confectionery shop located in Soja City.
Inside the store, various confections are lined up, mainly baked goods.
To ensure that customers can come for their favorite products, the menu is not frequently changed, and they cherish their staple items.

Outside the store, there is a vending machine, which is rare for a Western confectionery shop.
Due to a shortage of staff, it was introduced in 2023, leading to an increase in days when the store is closed. Many customers use it on days when the store is closed, as it provides an opportunity to purchase items outside of business hours.

Menu of Pâtisserie Coa
Pâtisserie Coa offers a variety of products, mainly focusing on baked goods.

Not only baked goods but also bread and cakes
In addition to baked goods, there is also a rich selection of bread and cakes.
At the register, there are 15 to 20 types of bread displayed.
From classic items like bagels to seasonal items like corn bread, there is a variety available.

In front of the register, a showcase displays colorful cakes and glass desserts, making it hard to decide which one to choose.

During the interview, I tried the cookies from the most popular cookie tin, along with bread and a glass dessert.
The most popular cookie tin
The most popular product at Pâtisserie Coa is the cookie tin.
It is also sold online and has fans all over the country.
On this day, I tried the "Cookie Assortment of 11 Types," which features a cute illustration of a cat.

When you open the lid, the tin is filled with cookies.
You can't help but exclaim, "Wow!"

Bottom left: Walnut Galette
The cookies include unique varieties such as Boulangerie Neige, which crumbles in your mouth, and Walnut Galette, which offers the aroma of walnuts, making for a variety of distinctive cookies in the assortment.
Confections unique to Okayama

At Pâtisserie Coa, the baked confection "URA Monaka," inspired by the demon "Ura" from the legend of Momotaro, is also popular.

This product is an arrangement of the baked confection "Florentines" made with almonds and caramel, shaped like the face of the demon. The flavors include three varieties: almond and caramel, chocolate, and dried fruit with hazelnuts.
Since it embodies the essence of Okayama, it is perfect as a souvenir.
Popular bread "Kuwini Aman"

The most popular bread is Kuwini Aman.
When you take a bite of the crispy dough, the sweetness spreads in your mouth. The combination of texture and sweetness makes it a delightful treat.
Glass dessert with a melon aroma
From the glass desserts lined up in the showcase, I tried the Almond Melon.

When you take a bite, the rich aroma of melon spreads, perfectly complementing the almond-flavored panna cotta.
Almond Melon is a seasonal menu item available in summer.
I spoke with the owner of Pâtisserie Coa in Soja City, Kowa Takehiro, about the inspiration for starting the shop and his thoughts on confectionery making.
