The only Thai restaurant in Kurashiki, Chang Thai Restaurant.
The Thai dishes prepared by the chef from Thailand are all exquisite, and the restaurant is known for its unforgettable deliciousness once you try it.
It is loved by regular customers, some of whom say, "I can only go to Chang Thai."
Thai cuisine, which uses plenty of herbs, may open a new door to your culinary experiences.
Why not enjoy Thai dishes with spiciness levels ranging from 0 to 5?
As a fan of Chang Thai, I confidently recommend it.
The only Thai restaurant in Kurashiki. Chang Thai Restaurant

Located in a quiet residential area of Hinode-cho, Kurashiki City, is Chang Thai Restaurant.
It is a Thai restaurant that prioritizes reservations for both lunch and dinner.

The interior was renovated from the home of the owner, Kaori Miyawaki.
During the interview, it was bustling with regular customers.
Reservations are highly recommended.

There is a tatami room, making it a relaxing space for families with children.
The seating is cute!

In the tatami room, there are paintings depicting Thai landscapes, which were said to be gifts from customers.
There are also various gifts from customers around the restaurant, making it feel like a place loved by its fans.

The shop is filled with Asian goods and ornaments.
Many of the items were purchased in Thailand, especially with a lot of elephant motifs.

The "Chang" in Chang Thai means "elephant" in Thai.
For Thai people, elephants are special creatures, and especially white elephants are considered sacred.

This is a sign made from bread given during the renewal opening of the French restaurant "Shuukakuzuki" in Kurashiki.
The chef of Shuukakuzuki has been in a relationship with Chang Thai since its opening.
It truly is a beloved restaurant.
A lunch menu you want to conquer. Enjoy the daily specials too!

Here is the introduction of the lunch menu at Chang Thai Restaurant.
In addition to fixed menus from A to F (900 yen excluding tax), there are also daily lunch specials on different days (1,000 yen excluding tax on Mondays, and 900 yen excluding tax on other days).
Except for dishes that are originally not spicy or cannot be adjusted, you can adjust the spiciness from level 0, which has no chili, to level 5, which is moderately spicy in Thailand.
Among regulars, there are stories like, "I started at level 0, and before I knew it, I was at level 4."

You can add a drink for an additional 150 yen.

You can have extra rice, extra side dishes, or extra soup.
You can also change chicken to shrimp.
Mild yet spicy! Chicken green curry lunch

This is the "Chicken Thai Curry Lunch" for 900 yen (excluding tax). I chose a spiciness level of 2, which is spicy.
I wonder how spicy it will be. I'm a bit nervous.
Green curry is originally a dish that is moderately spicy to spicy, so it can be adjusted to level 2 spiciness with chili powder.
It comes with a generous bowl of green curry, a blend of white rice and jasmine rice, a Thai-style omelet, salad, and chili sauce.

As a fan of Thai curry who keeps canned versions at home, I can say that Chang Thai's Thai curry is exceptionally delicious!
With a smooth soup, the creaminess of coconut, the refreshing aroma of herbs, and the spices, the umami layers on the tongue.
Just when I thought it wasn't that spicy, a sharp, stimulating spiciness comes in, refreshing!

When eaten with the Thai-style omelet, it becomes even milder and easier to eat.
With chunks of chicken, eggplant, basil, and chili, the combination of eggplant and soup is particularly excellent.

I added Thai-imported chili powder to increase the spiciness.
Spicy! But delicious!!
This spiciness, umami, and the aroma of herbs are truly addictive.
By the way, from spiciness level 3, the chef adds fresh chili to adjust the heat.

Pour the chili sauce over the omelet for an extra spicy kick!
The more you eat, the hungrier you feel for some reason? It's a mysterious sensation that makes you eat it all at once.
Next, I think I can handle level 3, or even level 4 of Thai spiciness.
Sour, spicy, and delicious! "Tom Yum Goong Fried Rice"

This is the daily lunch special, the "Tom Yum Goong Fried Rice," available only on Tuesdays for 900 yen (excluding tax).
The representative soup of Thailand, Tom Yum Goong, has been transformed into fried rice.
Indeed, the aroma is unmistakably Tom Yum Goong!

The Tom Yum Goong Fried Rice is topped with a runny fried egg, along with shrimp, mushrooms, and herbs.
The color is somewhat pinkish, and the scattered red chili peppers are quite appetizing.

The runny egg is cooked to perfection!
The shrimp is plump, and the flavor is sour and spicy, with a strong taste of Tom Yum Goong.
The aroma of the herbs is effective here as well, making this fried rice easy to eat despite the spiciness.

Chang Thai's sweet salad.
It is said to have the same seasoning as the chef's family salad.
It was surprisingly sweet when I first tasted it, but it provides a nice balance to the spicy flavors.

For dessert, you can choose between rambutan or coconut milk ice cream.
The rambutan contains pineapple inside.
The crunchy pineapple combined with the chewy texture of the rambutan is quite interesting!
Chef's Recommendation! Stir-fried Chicken with Holy Basil and Tom Yum Goong

This is the "Tom Yum Goong Lunch" for 900 yen (excluding tax).
Tom Yum Goong, Thai curry, and stir-fried chicken with holy basil (Gai Pad Krapow) are must-try signature dishes of Chang Thai.
The soup is a delicious blend of shrimp, enoki mushrooms, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and more, with a sour and spicy flavor (you can choose the spiciness level).

And my favorite menu item, "Stir-fried Chicken with Holy Basil," for 900 yen (excluding tax).
It has recently become popular as Gai Pad Krapow.

It's a simple dish of stir-fried chicken and basil, but it is truly, truly delicious!
Is it the unique aroma of Thai seasonings, or the abundance of basil that makes it so good?
After finishing, you will be sweating and filled with a happy afterglow from this dish.
Dinner menu requires advance reservation. The deliciousness of Khao Man Gai is unforgettable!
During dinner time, Chang Thai Restaurant prioritizes reservations, and the menu ends when sold out.
There are also menu items that require advance reservations, so let me introduce a few.

This is "Tod Man Pla," Thai-style fish cakes.
When eaten with a spicy sauce, they are perfect as a snack with drinks.

"Yum Woon Sen," a salad made with glass noodles.
It is a hearty salad filled with ground meat, shrimp, peanuts, tomatoes, onions, and herbs.

"Moo Dad Deaw," deep-fried dried pork.
With every bite, the flavor of the pork spreads, making it an addictive dish. The sauce is also delicious!

"Pad See Ew," flat noodles.
Pad See Ew requires advance reservation.
It is a stir-fried noodle dish with black soy sauce, offering a gentle flavor that is not spicy.
Even children can enjoy it.

And the "Khao Man Gai," which I consider the most delicious I've ever had.
The combination of jasmine rice soaked in chicken broth, tender chicken, and sauce is irresistible.
I love it so much that I want to declare, "Khao Man Gai from Chang Thai is my last supper!"
Chang Thai Restaurant has created many fans.
I spoke with the owner, Kaori Miyawaki, about the restaurant and the charm of Thai cuisine.
