On December 14, 2024 (Saturday), a workshop titled "Ikou de Ohara: A Slow and Thoughtful Dialogue with Art through Sketching for Adults" will be held at the Ohara Museum of Art.

Overview of "Ikou de Ohara: A Slow and Thoughtful Dialogue with Art for Adults"
Ikou de Ohara has been strongly associated with preschoolers and elementary school students. However, this time, the participation requirement is for adults aged 18 and over.
The content is also different from usual, as participants will sketch while viewing artworks and experience "renewed feelings and realizations" during the workshop.
The flow of the day is as follows, lasting about 2 hours.

Choose one artwork from the two rooms in the main building and try your hand at sketching!
Applications are accepted only through the Web form on the special page, and the application deadline is December 7, 2024 (Saturday).

Ohara Museum of Art has frequently welcomed elementary school students through school group reservations and has held the "Children's Art Museum" every summer targeting children.
The "Children's Art Museum" is a large-scale event that has not yet resumed after being canceled during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, even before COVID, there was a desire to hold smaller workshops more frequently, which led to the establishment of "Ikou de Ohara" in 2016.
The goal was to create opportunities for participants to engage with art and the museum while expanding their rich ideas and expressions, and initially, it was an irregularly scheduled workshop.
However, recently it has become a monthly event.
Why has a workshop primarily aimed at elementary school students become targeted at adults this time?

The workshops at Ohara Museum of Art were generally open to adults as well. However, it seemed that there were aspects that made it difficult for adults to participate. Therefore, I thought, "Wouldn't it be good to have a workshop exclusively for adults?"
I decided to include "for adults" in the event title and this time created a program focused on "dialogue with art through sketching."
There are customers who want to sketch inside the museum. However, we generally do not allow sketching inside the museum.
If there are people seeking opportunities to sketch, I wanted to provide the chance to sketch in front of the museum's artworks.
A special time just for participants, when the museum is closed and no one else is around.
I believe that the opportunity to sketch in a private setting after hours in the exhibition room is a valuable experience, which makes this event different from previous ones.

Since this is a sketching event, the tools will be pencils or colored pencils.
Everyone is welcome, whether you are not good at drawing but want to try, or if you want to appreciate the artworks more deeply.
Also, there are no instructors, and there will be no evaluation of the sketches.
