Overview of the "Corporate Learning Workshop Next Year Briefing and Discussion Meeting"
On February 13, 2025 (Thursday), the "Corporate Learning Workshop Next Year Briefing and Discussion Meeting" was held at Geibunkan Hall in Kurashiki City.
On that day, 40 companies, 9 junior high and high schools, and 1 member of the Board of Education participated. The industries were roughly divided by table into welfare, construction, childcare, and others.
The first part was a briefing, starting with a report on the achievements of the fiscal year 2024 and an explanation of the business plan for fiscal year 2025 by the Labor and Employment Policy Division of Kurashiki City. After that, two companies presented case studies.
Since companies that will join from the next fiscal year also participated, the case studies were presented in a way that clearly explained the tips and points of the classes.
The first case study was presented by Shimotsui Electric Railway Co., Ltd..
The key point of the class is to "clarify what you want to convey and communicate that to the students." By stating the purpose of the class at the beginning, students can perceive it as their own matter.
To keep students engaged, techniques such as incorporating videos and using quiz formats were also introduced.
Shimotsui Electric Railway previously provided an experience of sitting in the driver's seat using Shimoden buses, but they heard students say, "The time waiting to sit in the driver's seat is boring," and from then on, they incorporated workshops to prevent students from getting bored.
Eliminating students' boredom became the key to gaining their interest.
The second case study was presented by KANKO GAKUSEIFUKU CO., LTD..
Using slides that were actually used in class, they discussed how they got students interested in KANKO GAKUSEIFUKU. In the workshop, based on a large amount of uniform materials, students challenged themselves to create their own school uniforms, which was very exciting.
They also introduced the benefits that companies can gain from the Corporate Learning Workshop. Interacting with children leads to employee fulfillment, and new insights arise from the unique perspectives of children.
After the case study presentations, there was a Q&A session where comments were made from the perspectives of the Board of Education, Kurashiki City, and the companies.
After the case study presentations, the second part started after a break. A discussion meeting began at each table while enjoying coffee.
Many groups discussed ways to keep students engaged in classes, with various opinions such as "We want to prepare experiences that students can enjoy even more" and "How about dividing experiences according to the students' levels" being raised.
From school officials, comments such as "I felt that the companies are making efforts" were raised.
The discussion meeting conveyed that schools, companies, and local governments are working together with enthusiasm.
Conclusion
While covering the Corporate Learning Workshop, the author thought, "If I were a student, which company's class would I have attended?" With the option to choose from two classes across various industries such as welfare, food service, construction, and entertainment, it seems I would be pondering for a while.
The discussion meeting revealed that each company is experimenting with ways to make learning enjoyable for students, and it felt like the Corporate Learning Workshop is poised to power up even further in the future.
In today's world, many young people are moving out of the prefecture, but having experiences interacting with local companies can change their feelings towards the region.
Personally, I hope opportunities like the Corporate Learning Workshop, where junior high and high school students engage with local companies, will continue in the future.
