Opened in December 2012, the restaurant “Shoku Koubou Tuo” features a wonderful Japanese modern space.
For lunch, there are two types: Japanese set meal and daily special set meal.
In the evening, they offer about 100 menu items ranging from izakaya dishes to kaiseki cuisine.
From drinks that pair well with the dishes to a variety of desserts, it is truly a restaurant that can be enjoyed by everyone from children to the elderly.
During the heavy rain in July 2018, the store was flooded to about 180 centimeters, but the voices of local people looking forward to its reopening supported the effort, and it resumed operations in mid-September 2018.
I heard about the delicious charm of this restaurant where you can enjoy food and smile, as well as the owner's feelings towards the restaurant, so I would like to introduce it.
A calm Japanese modern interior for enjoying meals

The Japanese room can accommodate up to 30 people, and by using sliding doors, it can also be arranged as a private room for about 10 people.

The sunken kotatsu seating, where you can stretch your legs comfortably while dining, is also popular among the elderly!
The variety of seating options that can accommodate many different scenes is attractive.
Two types of special lunch that families can enjoy
Lunch consists of Japanese set meal for 1,200 yen (including tax) and daily special set meal for 900 yen (including tax).
A Japanese set meal to taste a variety of ingredients in small portions

The Japanese set meal uses homegrown vegetables, allowing you to enjoy a menu with a balanced nutritional profile!
The menu, carefully arranged on the tray by the owner, is impressive.
You can feel the owner's desire for customers to enjoy their meals.

The glossy white rice is cooked to a perfect firmness, with a hint of sweetness.
As you sip the miso soup, the gentle dashi flavor seeps into your body, bringing a smile to your face.

The tempura is lightly battered and fried to a crisp, not greasy, making it easy on the stomach.

The sashimi is fresh and plump, making you want to eat more rice.

Enjoy a variety of delicious items in small portions, beautifully arranged on the central plate.
The item on the far left is a mixture of "mentaiko" (spicy cod roe), "shamo eggs," and "kazunoko" (herring roe), featuring a unique crunchy texture.

The spicy salt sauce on the pork is robustly flavored, making you want to enjoy it with a drink.
I was told that this is the owner's original sauce used in the evening menu as well.

Other items include salad, pickles, a small bowl of mozuku seaweed, and chawanmushi (savory egg custard).
Each dish is filled with "deliciousness," allowing you to enjoy your meal without getting bored.
Daily special set meal featuring meat dishes

The daily special set meal often features meat dishes as the main item, and it is also recommended!

The daily special set meal on the day of the interview featured tonkatsu as the main dish.
The rich miso sauce enhances the flavor of the crispy tonkatsu.
I want to visit many times to taste various lunches.
And, the rice is refillable! It's great to be able to refill at this price.
You can also add a drink for an additional 150 yen (lunch only).
▼ The drink menu is as follows. (As of May 2019)
- Coffee (hot, iced)
- Tea (hot, iced)
- Oolong tea
- Orange juice
- Tomato juice
- Apple juice
The owner of the restaurant “Shoku Koubou Tuo,” Kiyofumi Tuo, is from Yakage Town, which is adjacent to Mabi.
I heard about his feelings towards his hometown of Yakage and the story of reopening after the disaster.
